ONE NIGHT STAND is a unique opportunity to go backstage with Rachel Dratch, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Richard Kind, Cheyenne Jackson, and other top Broadway and Hollywood writers, actors, and directors who produce four original short musicals, all within 24 hours. Think A Chorus Line meets Project Runway - a window into the creative process with a compressed time frame: the spark, the camaraderie, the sheer panic and the ultimate thrill of expression.

Filmmakers Elisabeth Sperling and Trish Dalton accumulated sixty-five hours of footage over the twenty-four hour period. The final product, edited down to 74 minutes, gives you an up-close, personal glimpse of some of America's favorite actors as they step out of their comfort zones - from Cheyenne Jackson's "fear, sweat, adrenaline and Red Bull" to Rachel Dratch's mounting dread at the prospect of singing alongside Broadways' finest voices. Richard Kind sums it up, "It's like a rollercoaster. You want to throw up, but it's fun!" ONE NIGHT STAND is a record of an insane theatrical challenge and keeps you on The Edge of your seat and laughing.

ONE NIGHT STAND is organized by The 24 Hour Company as a fundraiser for The Exchange, which supports innovative American and British Theater artists.

BWW Review: BABY OH BABY Premieres at the Whitefire
by Don Grigware - Mar 28, 2016

Playwrights Phil Scarpaci and T.L. Shannon are from opposite sides of the pond. Scarpaci is American and Shannon, British. When they wrote Baby Oh Baby, they decided to leave the setting England, as the British are expert farceurs and know a thing or two about delivering comedy. Surprisingly, the play projects a very contemporary perspective on artificial insemination...and becomes quite serious midway through its 80 minute playing time. Not to say that a serious topic cannot be funny. Of course, we must laugh at everything, but sometimes the topic deserves a bit more exploration at the core, and frivolity is not always the best way to handle it. Now onstage on Saturdays only, at 8 pm through June 4, Baby Oh Baby has a terrific cast who make the material rise off the printed page with a nice entertainment high. (more...)

BWW Review: Touching New Play GOING TO A PLACE WHERE YOU ALREADY ARE Premieres at South Coast Rep
by Michael L. Quintos - Mar 22, 2016

What happens to us when we die? Do we all make it to 'heaven,' regardless of our faith? This question is thrust front-and-center in playwright Bekah Brunstetter's pleasing world premiere play GOING TO A PLACE WHERE YOU ALREADY ARE, which continues performances at Costa Mesa's Tony Award-winning South Coast Repertory through March 27, 2016. This stirring SCR-commission helmed by SCR artistic director Marc Masterson marks this new play's first full-scale production after its well-received reading at last year's Pacific Playwrights Festival… and after experiencing the play here first-hand, it's certainly understandable why. Touching and brilliantly performed, the play explores a wonderfully hopeful view of what it means for a person to 'move on.' (more...)

BWW Interview: Tony-winner Donna Murphy Returns to Familiar Era in PBS's MERCY STREET
by Matt Tamanini - Jan 17, 2016

The 1860s are a familiar period for Donna Murphy. In addition to winning Tonys for playing Fosca in the original Broadway production of PASSION and Anna in the 1996 revival of THE KING AND I, the actress played Mary Todd Lincoln in the television movie, THE DAY LINCOLN WAS SHOT. All three projects were set between 1862 and 1867.
