Actor/singer Cheyenne Jackson first appeared on Broadway with Sutton Foster in Thoroughly Modern Millie. Needless to say, he caused a sensation and has since made the TV screen sizzle with his appearances in Glee and American Horror Story. He will be making a concert appearance on December 15 and 17/18 in four Holiday shows with the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles. (GMCLA) Jackson spoke briefly with me about this concert and comments on various points of his illustrious career thus far. Writers in Performance Annual Showcase at TPAC

Writers in Performance is a 12-week writing and performance workshop hosted by BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center, culminating in two public presentations.  Throughout the course of the workshop, talented actors, playwrights, poets and storytellers have explored writing exercises, theater games, improvisation, movement techniques, and ensemble work in a safe, creative environment. This season, the theme and title of the Writers in Performance show is "Home." Writers in Performance participants are diverse by design; not only in ethnicity, but by age, and experience as well, mixing professionals with students.  On Friday, December 2 & Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 7:30PM, the troupe will showcase the monologues and short scenes they have been crafting.  We are proud to have members of the BMCC student community in the production (denoted below). Diet Doc Recommends Doctor-Supervised Paleo Diet Over Alkaline Diet

JACKSON, MS - With the rising obesity epidemic and wide prevalence of diets and weight loss programs in the market, dieters have a lot to choose from. Not all dietary programs are made equal, however, and sometimes, losing weight fast is not worth it because of the health consequences involved. A diet that has recently garnered attention, for instance, is the Alkaline Diet, which involves regulating foods that can supposedly affect the pH (acidity) levels of the body. By discouraging the consumption of acid-enhancing foods (like meat, dairy, eggs, refined sugar, wheat, alcohol, caffeine and processed foods), the Alkaline Diet aims to minimize acidity and thereby promote alkalinity, which supposedly helps reduce body fat. Foods like fruits, vegetables, soybeans, tofu, Nuts, seeds and legumes, for instance, are considered 'alkaline-promoting' and therefore encouraged. (more...)
