BWW Interview: Robert Michael Morris on THE COMEBACK's ComebackBWW Interview: Robert Michael Morris on THE COMEBACK's Comeback
by Courtney Henley - Jul 31, 2015

I'm gonna make this nice and simple: if you're not watching the HBO comedy series THE COMEBACK, you should be. The sitcom stars Lisa Kudrow as Valerie Cherish, a former A-list actress who agrees to document her attempt at rediscovering fame by being the subject of a reality show. It's genuinely hilarious and full of heart – and boasts an extensive list of guest stars, to boot (I'm looking at you, Sean Hayes and Seth Rogen). If you don't believe me, maybe you'll listen to the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, which just recognized the series with an Emmy nomination for Lisa Kudrow for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.  (more...)

Winner of the 2014 NYMF Developmental Reading Series, this Latin infused American musical is inspired by the true story of a Princeton Undergrad who was an undocumented child immigrant from the Dominican Republic. When Manuel gets a scholarship to study at Oxford, he's faced with the realization that he can't leave the USA. He takes on The Statue of Liberty in the fight of a lifetime; the high-stakes boxing match that is immigration today. Is Manuel worthy? No one is spared in this political comedy that pulls no punches about immigration reform and the American Dream. (more...)

BWW Reviews: Family Fun at The MUNY with BEAUTY AND THE BEASTBWW Reviews: Family Fun at The MUNY with BEAUTY AND THE BEAST
by Chris Gibson - Jul 30, 2015

Each year The MUNY makes it a point to present a full-blown musical that's aimed at the younger set. This year it's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, which was given the patented Disney treatment when adapted for the stage from their own 1991 animated film. So, it retains plenty of the elements that made the film so successful, while also featuring some additional songs by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, some of which were cut from the movie. There's no denying the appeal of this material, and it's a perfect way to introduce kids to the wonders of live theatre in such a lovely setting, and on such a grand scale. (more...)
