BWW Review: Celebrating Girl Power with BEEHIVE The 60's Musical
by Andria Tieman - Jun 5, 2017

BEEHIVE is a musical so jam-packed with hits that it's almost overwhelming.  Though this show is not a traditional musical so much as it's a musical revue, there is a nice loose plot running through the whole production that serves to give the songs political and social context and really drive home how tumultuous the 1960s were and how dramatically different the early part of the decade was from the end of it.  The cast of seven women start out as young adults, and then as the time of the songs passes, they grow up, learn more about the world, and channel that knowledge back into the music.  It's a fun night of nostalgia, but also one that doesn't completely sugarcoat the problems of the past. BWW Review: A HARMONY BOYS CHRISTMAS Closed This Past Weekend As Part of the Hollywood Fringe
by Don Grigware - Jun 26, 2017

Described as 'an evening of song, dance and holiday cheer in support of the 'Force Feed the World' charity fund', A Harmony Boys Christmas as a musical satire revels in being politically incorrect. It concentrates on traditions like Santa Claus coming down the chimney, crackers - fun toys that are popular with the Brits - and even the birth of the 'Sweet Little Jesus Boy' and tears them all to shreds. BWW Review: Robot Teammate's New Musical TURBULENCE! covers Fun-Loving Comic Territory
by Ellen Dostal - Jun 11, 2017

Set to an upbeat '80s-style pop rock score, TURBULENCE! is a screwball mash-up of Friday night SyFy comedy classics and Saturday morning cartoons with colorful characters and bright, energetic choreography. Two musical departures - a hokey country 'Hoedown Throwdown' style number (priceless) and a beautiful a cappella choral piece add variety. The friendly rough-and-tumble nature of the work is a good fit for those looking for an escape from the more cynical/slit-your-wrists drama one often finds at the Fringe. This is comical territory, bold and fun-loving. It won't tax any brain cells but the rowdy good time it delivers is all you need. (more...)
