Do you remember classic pop/rock songs of the 1970s such as "Do It Again," "My Old School," and "Reeling In the Years?" If those tunes are swirling around in your head it's because they were big hits of the period by the iconic rock group Steely Dan. The founding member of that great band, guitarist extraordinaire Denny Dias, will take the stage at New York's popular jazz club IRIDIUM on August 6 and 7 for Denny Dias & Friends, a show that will celebrate the music of Steely Dan and showcase a few of his Denny's original songs. Joining Denny will be two special guests: Celebrated pianist/composer/music director Yaron Gershovsky and popular singer Lisa Jason as the show's lead vocalist. Performances of Denny Dias & Friends will be at 8 pm and 10 pm each night. ?Jersey Tap Fest, NJ's sole dance Festival featuring world-class tap faculty and extravaganza, celebrates its sixth year, August 13-16, 2015 in Roselle Park and Bloomfield, NJ. This year, the 4-day Festival will offer two main stage performances: an updated format of audience favorite TAP 'N TIME, and a brand new production, Soul Walk, with all original choreography by Festival founder Hillary-Marie. In addition to these performances, the Festival will feature more than 30 tap dance classes with master instructors from across the tri-state area. The Hartt School Community Division (HCD) Dance Department presents Giselle, a ballet by Adolphe Adam, on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at Millard Auditorium at the University of Hartford, 200 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford. Guest choreographer and artistic director of the production is Xiomara Reyes, a world-renowned dancer who retired from the American Ballet Theatre (ABT) in May after 12 years as one of its principal dancers.
