BWW Review: THE 'GREAT' AMERICAN TRAILER PARK MUSICAL Returns to CCTC
by Kristen Morale - Sep 28, 2015

After an exciting summer season, Harwich Junior Theater, now a part of the Cape Cod Theatre Company, continues its sixty-forth season with a revival of its start-of-summer hit, The Great American Trailer Park Musical, bringing back a majority of its original cast that once made (and hereby continues to make) this show quite the adventure to embark on. To call it a revival, though, really does not do what is currently happening on that stage justice, as the cast and creative team has thus come together again to create a show that is even more powerful and more hilarious than what I remember; it is essentially a new show. The success and beauty of the first production, though, made me more than happy to provide a second review of the show, but the prospect of sitting through it again (even though I am now pretty familiar with the show) made me quite willing to make my way to CCTC once again. BWW Review: Freely Sounds the Mockingbird's Song in CCTC's TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD
by Kristen Morale - Oct 30, 2015

Now brought to the stage, thus making the message of a shared humanity that much more profound, the Cape Cod Theatre Company has given us a production that is worthy of more than just the audience's time and consideration: it is a lesson that must be carefully taught to each of us again and again, a confirmation that people have the right to be considered individuals beneath the watchful eye of unchanging men, and a song that should not cease because people are too blind to hear its call. BWW Review: Rocking Out to the Life of Johnny Cash with RING OF FIRE at CCTC
by Kristen Morale - May 25, 2016

The Cape Cod Theatre Company, home of the Harwich Junior Theatre, has decided to step away traditional staged storytelling and try something different with its newest "jukebox" production of Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash. Created by Richard Maltby, Jr and hereby directed and choreographed by Pamela C. Wills, with Nina K. Schuessler serving as Producing Artistic Director, Ring of Fire is a story within and through a performance, and this production has the unique ability to depict the lives of Johnny Cash and June Carter, complete with interchangeable characters and interspersed moments of chronological storytelling, in a way I could image they would have approved of themselves: simple, straightforward and even stark (how fitting that word is) in its presentation but so oddly appropriate for the unadorned but deeply affecting way Cash's music hits you. Those on stage are not "acting" to portray these music legends, but instead almost seem to hand themselves over to the audience's belief that this is not a presentation or something that is purely meant to entertain; they are there to tell a story, and with a wonderfully eclectic mix of songs played in the background, there is something so beautiful in the rawness of this entire production. BWW Review: Try Getting Over this Ogre of a Show at CCTC's SHREK
by Kristen Morale - Feb 23, 2016

The Cape Cod Theatre Company, home of the Harwich Junior Theatre, brings a stunning production of Shrek: The Musical to a Cape Cod stage and does an absolutely fine job of making sure audiences will see all the wonder to be found in this show. I am like a broken record when it comes to my praise of this group, but even at the risk of being redundant and sounding like a lovesick theater child will I once again say that CCTC has impressed me from the very beginning and continues to do so. BWW Review: Dickinson's Words Ring Forevermore in Harwich
by Kristen Morale - Aug 31, 2015

Dickenson believed in the power and majesty of the written word, and so, too, can a Cape Cod audience now embrace her passion in a new production which portrays not only the life of Massachusetts' own world-renown poet, but more specifically those emotions which made her one of the most memorable and fascinating people an audience can ever become acquainted with on stage. The Belle of Amherst is hereby brought to the Cape with an ecstatic bang in the form of subtle Emily Dickinson, who's basic essence on stage makes this a truly remarkable production that any director would be proud of. BWW Review: The Stories Sisters Shall Tell in CCTC's LITTLE WOMEN: THE BROADWAY MUSICAL
by Kristen Morale - Apr 7, 2016

Cape Cod Theatre Company's production of Little Women: The Broadway Musical is really something special. As I couldn't give you a visceral explanation of what it made me feel, this is a story who's truest depth and exquisiteness - its true emotion - is to be found once the journey is complete, and even then does a new beginning have the means of springing forth. Both the story and the way it was performed on stage, with music to bring out what is nothing less than extraordinary about four average girls and what their lives amount to, has such a spark to it as only CCTC can make happen - not only with this but with every show the group chooses to do. BWW Review: Community Players Creates Heavenly Hilarity with NUNSENSE 2: THE SECOND COMING
by Robert Barossi - Apr 11, 2016

You might be hard pressed to come up with a musical that is or has a sequel. Sequels seem to primarily be the domain of movies, books and perhaps television shows. There is one musical, though, that actually has a number of sequels to its credit. The hit show Nunsense hasn't just spawned one or two follow-ups, it actually has nine shows which are considered sequels or spin-offs of the original. Now, Community Players is presenting the second in that line, Nunsense 2: The Second Coming. (more...)
