Ballet Memphis will reprise Steven McMahon’s interpretation of the Charles Perrault fairy tale as the season’s last mainstage show. The company debuted the work–featuring the famous score by Sergei Prokofiev as well as sets from the London City Ballet –during the 2008-09 season.

Tony Award winner Brian Stokes Mitchell will star in The Band Wagon, an Encores! Special Event based on the classic MGM movie of the same title, from November 6 - 16, 2014 at City Center. The show has a book by Douglas Carter Beane adapted from the screenplay by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, with music by Arthur Schwartz and lyrics by Howard Dietz. The Band Wagon will be directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall with music direction by Todd Ellison. Fiasco Theater's INTO THE WOODS Extends Through August at The Old Globe

The Old Globe today announced additional performances for the second production of the 2014 Summer Season, Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Tony Award-winning musical Into the Woods, which made its World Premiere at The Old Globe in 1986. The production is an inventive reimagining by Fiasco Theater, directed by Noah Brody and Ben Steinfeld, in a production that originated at McCarter Theatre Center. By popular demand, it will now play through Sunday, August 17. Tickets for the extension will go on sale to the general public on Tuesday, July 29 at noon. (more...)

As they close in on the August 1st fundraising deadline, and having reached 57% of the $250,000 goal, Cabrillo Music Theatre enthusiastically announces that local businessman/developer John Notter has partnered with the Conrad Hilton Foundation to pledge $30,000 to the fundraising drive. At the same time, Notter and the Foundation ask the community to do the same, and now the race is on to reach the deadline in the next eight days. If fundraising and season subscription goals are reached, Cabrillo Music Theatre can move ahead with its 2014-2015 season, featuring MARY POPPINS, MEMPHIS, OKLAHOMA and COMPANY. Washington National Opera (WNO) today announced the roster of emerging artists and renowned vocal coaches engaged for the 13th season of its Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program. Under the leadership of program director Michael Heaston, the Domingo- Cafritz Young Artist Program continues to increase its number of performances throughout the season and expand its training regimen to include mentorship by its returning Artist in Residence, the acclaimed American soprano Deborah Voigt. Additional faculty members include voice teachers Diana Soviero and William Stone; guest vocal coaches Be?ne?dicte Jourdois, Kathleen Kelly, and Danielle Orlando; career consultants Ken Benson and Matthew Epstein; and guest drama coaches Peter Kazaras and Alan Paul, among others.
