Arthur Miller's Olivier award-winning drama, tells the story of Phillip and Sylvia Gellburg, a New York couple living in Brooklyn in 1938.

Phillip, obsessed with work and his own desire to assimilate, has little time for his wife, but when Sylvia suddenly becomes paralysed after reading newspaper reports of Kristallnacht in Germany, Dr. Harry Hyman is called in. As he gets closer to the source of Sylvia's troubles, a relationship develops that could have devastating consequences on the family, and themes of guilt, personal tragedy and love start to unfold.

A British Invasion: Stars Cross the Pond to Light Up Broadway This Fall!
by Nicole Rosky - Oct 25, 2015

'[Thank you] to an incredible cast of British and American actors who make the Atlantic look like a little creek you can just kind of pop across,' said Dame Helen Mirren upon receiving her 2015 Tony Award. The stage and screen star reprised her critically-acclaimed performance in THE AUDIENCE after a West End run in 2013, and she was just one of many to 'pop across' an ocean for a stab at Broadway.  An unprecedented amount of British talent took over Broadway last year, bringing us such productions as THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME, WOLF HALL: PARTS 1 & 2, and SKYLIGHT.   It doesn't seem like the trend is ending anytime soon. This fall, Broadway will welcome a slew of British actors- some of whom will be making their US stage debuts in incoming productions. And it's not just performers. We're getting some complete British imports in shows like A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE and KING CHARLES III. Below, we're taking a moment to shine a spotlight on this season's British imports. (more...)

BWW Review: BROKEN GLASS in Westport
by Sherry Shameer Cohen - Oct 12, 2015

Westport Country Playhouse closed its season by honoring the centennial of Pultizer prize-winning playwright Arthur Miller with his 1994 play, Broken Glass. The title partly refers to Kristallnacht, the pogrom during which the windows of Jewish-owned homes and businesses and synagogues were smashed and nearly 100 Jews murdered during those attacks and 30,000 more were arrested and sent to concentration camps. However, it really refers to the broken spirtis of a Brooklyn couple. (more...)

Phil Escott's ARTHRITIS - THE BEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO ME is Released
by BWW News Desk - Jul 25, 2016

Phil Escott Cures Own Arthritis Without Drugs or Doctors; His Book has Become a Hot Seller on Kindle Instantly. 'Arthritis - The Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me' details Escott's saga to finding ultimate relief without medical intervention. Phil Escott, author of 'Arthritis - The Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me: Healing The Pain Of Psoriatic And Rheumatoid Arthritis And How Autoimmunity Can Heal Your Body And Soul,' has written this story about his onset of symptoms, the despair and pain that followed, the frustrations with the doctors' ineffective chemical approaches, and finally finding success through diet, lifestyle and emotional balancing. There are many laughs and a wealth of practical advice on subjects seldom touched upon in other books on arthritis such as ketosis, cold thermogenesis (daily ice cold baths!), circadian rhythms, rebuilding the gut flora and methods for untangling beliefs that create problems in the mind. Phil also delves into root causes - our certain life circumstances, which eventually manifests as disease as the body follows suit. It's a tale of discovery, failures, successes, awakenings and ultimate surrender. Phil's knees and ankles had blown up to the size of grapefruits. Inflammation in his spine and wrists had become so painful that it felt like he had Broken Glass throughout his body. Walking was excruciating. After three months with numerous doctors who did nothing for him, Phil took healing into his own hands. In desperation, Phil began doing weeks and weeks of research on Google, which led to many things that didn't help and a few that did. And it was then that he started to realize that the real answer to curing comes from subtraction - one by one getting rid of the things that caused your arthritis in the first place and recognizing that only then will the body reset itself. There are more people suffering from arthritis and autoimmune diseases than cancer and heart disease in every country in the world. In the USA, one in five adults suffer from arthritis or 52.5 million people as well as 250,000 children. It's estimated that by 2030, 67 million over the age of 18 will have arthritis in the USA. 'Like us all, Phil ascribed to the precepts of what could bring him health, and he found that most of what he was told enriched others but just left him more broken. The medicine man's chronic wallet biopsies did not bring him solace, but discomfort. Instead of viewing that stress as a misfortune, he used that discomfort to innovate a change in himself by changing his priorities. Any misfortune 'that lies outside the sphere of choice' should be considered an opportunity to strengthen our resolve, not an excuse to weaken it. How did he become stronger when he was weaker? He added ideas to his own recipe of experience to create brilliance.' - Dr Jack Kruse, respected neurosurgeon and CEO of Optimal Life Phil Escott has been doing Skype consultations on arthritis and autoimmune diseases for several years. His appearance on Buddha at the Gas Pump on YouTube is one of the most popular on the channel. (more...)

Dad's Garage to Stage New Sketch Show WOMAN OF THE YEAR
by BWW News Desk - Jan 18, 2016

This February, Dad's Garage will challenge the portrayal of modern women in society during the scripted comedy show "Woman of the Year." Featuring sketches written by the ladies of Dad's Garage, this show twists all sorts of traditional notions of how women are supposed to act, dress, think, and live their lives. The story begins on New Year Day and goes through a year of life for a typical American woman. Traipsing through Valentine's Day, July 4, Black History Month, Halloween, and more, the sketches subvert how male-female dynamics play out in everyday life. During Valentine's Day, female executives talk about what crap men will buy to feel better about their endowment. See what happens when a Black Friday shopper meets his match in the women of his dreams. Madame President must save Christmas. And women celebrate their favorite holiday-April 20. The sketches confront female stereotypes in the home, office, and public spaces. (more...)
