AMERICAN IDOL Recap: IDOL Game Changer Can't Prevent Major EliminationAMERICAN IDOL Recap: IDOL Game Changer Can't Prevent Major Elimination
by Matt Tamanini - May 2, 2014

Oh boy! Tonight's elimination episode kicked off with Ryan Seacrest teasing a 'shocking twist' that none of the idols will see coming. After last week's absolutely not-shocking 'shocking' elimination, I was more than a little weary of trusting Ryan. Next he said that each finalist will have a difficult decision to make. I wasn't sure if this would actually end up being 'game-changer' or just another in a long line of IDOL swerves. (more...)

by BWW News Desk - May 1, 2014

What would you do if you were told that you need to stop being how you are, looking how you look, and loving how you love? That your style of clothes, and the way you walk and talk are not good. Would you agree? You'll also be told what to do, how to dress and even how to love! Would you do that? It sounds unthinkable in our modern western society, where we have been told so often that being yourself is a Good Thing, right? Think again. Isn't that what we hear every time we turn the TV on or flip the pages of any magazine? 'You have to look like this!' 'You must do that!' We may not notice anything odd about this until we come across the smart, critical and satirical portrait of this reality framed in 'Learn to be Latina' by Enrique Urueta, playing at Milagro Theatre from today, May 1-31, 2014. Credit Managers' Index for March Stalls at 55.5Credit Managers' Index for March Stalls at 55.5
by BWW News Desk - Mar 31, 2014

The Credit Managers' Index (CMI) from the National Association of Credit Management (NACM) saw little change in the readings for March as it slipped a fraction from 55.6 to 55.5. The stall at February and December levels leaves January's spike as the anomaly in recent months. The index's readings, which had fluctuated since October, provided cautious expectations of consistent future growth. It was hoped that the February reading was the outlier, rather than a grim thesis for the rest of 2014, but a holding pattern due in part to the effects of a harsh winter is preferred to a decline, leaving room for some optimism about the economy in months to come. BWW Reviews: THE COMEDY OF ERRORS at Oregon Shakespeare FestivalBWW Reviews: THE COMEDY OF ERRORS at Oregon Shakespeare Festival
by Evan Henerson - Apr 22, 2014

The throw-everything-against-the-wall-and-pray-for-laughs approach to low comedy is a staple of live theater, and certainly, of William Shakespeare's plays. None play would seem to invite a shtick-fest - beg for one even - than the hugely ridiculous THE COMEDY OF ERRORS. At the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, alas, Kent Gash's free-for-all staging of Errors exposes the play's lameness rather than celebrates its lunacy. For ninety non-breezy minutes, every actor on that stage is mugging (or frugging) his or her collective buns off. Some of the players are quite deft and, indeed, the production has its share of laughs. Too often, though, the jokes don't land, the pace slows and the endeavor is dead in the water. (more...)
