Museum of Art and Design (MOAD) at Miami Dade College (MDC) will present To Write Miami, a series of readings by Miami authors that explores the city's fascinating relationship with literature. Participating writers include Lynne Barrett, Scott P. Long-time westsider musicians Mari Kimura (violinist/composer) and Bruce Brubaker (piano) will join up for 'CODEX to CAGE' an eclectic concert program in the heart of Upper West Side on Monday, December 10 at 7:30 PM at North of History, 445 Columbus Avenue (81-82 Street). Kimura will perform solo violin works ranging from Bach to Ioanis Xenakis to works of her own. Brubaker, who heads the Piano program at the New England Conservatory and is a renowned interpreter of Philip Glass and Terry Riley, will perform works from his repertoire, including 'Codex Faenza,' a 15th-century manuscript that Brubaker has arranged. Kimura and Brubaker will join forces in their interpretation of John Cage's 'Fontana Mix' to conclude the concert.

As part of the string quartet's 20th anniversary season, ETHEL returns to BAM with Circus: Wandering City, a multimedia musical journey into the history of the iconic Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus that explores and honors the complex relationship between circus troupes, their performers, and the audiences they inspired.
In March and April 2019, The Cleveland Orchestra and Music Director Franz Welser-Most embark on their nineteenth tour together, with eleven performances scheduled across Asia in seven cities: Taipei, Macao, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Nanjing, Wuhan, and Beijing. The tour's repertoire features four big musical works, two from the 19th century and two from the 20th, with Beethoven's "Emperor" Piano Concerto (No. 5) with soloist Daniil Trifonov and Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony, alongside Richard Strauss's epic tone poem Ein Heldenleben and Prokofiev's enigmatic Symphony No. 3. Details of concert pairings, venues, and dates in China and Taiwan are listed in the Program Information section at the end of this release.

Born on October 11, 1918 in New York City, Robbins was one of the major forces in 20th century performing arts. He received world renown for his choreography for New York City Ballet, where he spent much of his creative life, as well as for his work with American Ballet Theatre, Ballets: U.S.A., and other dance companies around the world. He received equal acclaim for his work as a director and choreographer of Broadway musicals, plays, movies, and television, winning five Tony Awards and two Academy Awards, as well as numerous other honors including the Handel Medallion of the City of New York (1976), the Kennedy Center Honors (1981), and the National Medal of the Arts (1988).
