Tickets Are Now On Sale For BLUE At The Apollo Theater

Producers Brian Moreland, Ron Simons, Mike Jackson, John Legend and Eric Falkenstein announced today that tickets for Blue are officially on-sale. The beloved play by Charles Randolph-Wright with music by Nona Hendryx and lyrics by Charles Randolph-Wright, will play a 16-week engagement at New York's legendary Apollo Theater (253 West 125th Street), under the direction of Tony Award winner Phylicia Rashad who starred in both the play's 2000 world premiere at Arena Stage and 2001 New York premiere at Roundabout Theatre Company. Previews are set to begin on April 27th with opening night on May 10th. Blue will run through August 16th.

The legendary Jewish-comedy-on-Christmas-in-a-Chinese-restaurant extravaganza has been featuring famous Jewish comedians (including the late Henny Youngman and Shelley Berman), Chinese food, and Yiddish proverbs in its fortune cookies ('With one tuchus, you can't dance at 2 weddings') since 1993. Kung Pao is one of San Francisco's longest-running comedy shows, catering to over 2000 people annually: some have attended every year.

I had watched other audience members receive secret family recipes, help rehearse a marriage proposal, even destroy a speed limit sign with a hammer. But the card I drew was Death. So, naturally, I was eulogized in front of the rest of the audience. The thing my funeral had in common with all these other short vignettes was the sense that, without my involvement, none of this could happen. I mattered. When it was done, I opened my eyes, took the flower offered to me, and found my seat. The oration was by Quill Nebeker, my Medium for the evening.

National Tour Of CATS Opens Next Week At PPAC

Excitement is building at the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) in Providence, RI, as the North American tour opening of the first ever Broadway revival of CATS approaches at the Theatre, January 22 - 27, 2019. To date, sixteen national tours have opened at PPAC since 2008. The CATS national tour launch will bring this number to seventeen national tour openings.
