South Street Seaport Museum celebrated the start of the 2023 Summer Sailing Season on May 24, 2023, at 10am, on Pier 16 (between Fulton and South Streets). Remarks were given aboard Wavertree by the Seaport Museum's President and CEO Capt. Jonathan Boulware, Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine, NYC Commissioner for Cultural Affairs Laurie Cumbo, and Community Board 1 Vice Chair Alice Blank.

A new musical about Betty Boop has officially announced its pre-Broadway engagement. The World Premiere of BOOP! The Betty Boop Musical will play a limited six-week engagement, November 19 – December 31, 2023, at the CIBC Theatre in Chicago. 

The Broadway League has announced the 21 Broadway shows participating in the 2023 spring season of Broadway Bridges, including Camelot, A Beautiful Noise and many more.

Recorded at United Recording in Los Angeles, CA, the twelve-track album was produced, engineered and mixed by Dan Knobler (Judy Collins, Allison Russell) and features arrangements from Jacob Zimmerman. All songs were written by Vilray except for the 1930’s classic “Goodnight My Love,” which was written by Mack Gordon and Harry Revel.

With the actor suffering from acute laryngitis, Theater for the New City has been forced to postpone the return engagement of Ronald 'Smokey' Stevens in his one-man, two character production, 'I Just Want to Tell Somebody.' The piece was scheduled to be re-mounted November 10-27, 2022 and will now take stage June 1-18, 2023.

The run of shows will include two special Kill Rock Stars-curated nights in Portland and Seattle. The tour’s Vancouver date will also feature Mi’ens, a Kill Rock Stars pick, and Fhang, a project that features TEKE::TEKE bassist Mishka Stein and the band’s longtime collaborator and friend, Sam Woywitka.

There’s no arguing that musicals made from movies can be hit or miss. Broadway has had it’s share of them over the last few decades. Sometimes they work well (e.g., HAIRSPRAY, LEGALLY BLONDE, THE PRODUCERS) and sometimes not so much (e.g., CARRIE, KING KONG, DRACULA) but there is something particularly thrilling about seeing a fan favorite brought to life on stage. That is certainly the case for YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, the musical version of the 1974 Mel Brooks comedy film of the same name. And lucky for fans (of either the film or the musical) the current production at Osceola Arts in Kissimmee is absolutely fabulous – from the first bolt of lighting to the last thunderclap (and audience clap) – it’s a non-stop, rollicking good time.

DakhaBrakha returns to ArtPark July 14th for a reception, fundraising concert, and talkback. Originating from the Ukrainian experimental theatre group, Dakh, under the artistic direction of Vladislav Troitsky, the band of four friends has played worldwide in a mission to spread and celebrate Ukrainian culture.
