Artistic Director Peter Boal has announced to subscribers the line-up for Pacific Northwest Ballet's 2015-2016 season. Highlights include a program devoted to the work of American master choreographers George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, and Twyla Tharp; the return of popular works by Balanchine (The Prodigal Son), Robbins (The Concert), Christopher Wheeldon (Tide Harmonic), and Crystal Pite (Emergence); two story ballets (Romeo et Juliette and Coppelia), PNB premieres by Justin Peck, Jessica Lang, and Alejandro Cerrudo; a newly reconstructed Le Corsaire: A Pirate's Tale for matinee fanily audiences; and the unveiling of Balanchine's The Nutcrackerwith brand-new sets and costumes by Ian Falconer. This summer, the company kicks off its most ambitious undertaking to date:The Figaro Project. On Site Opera will offer lesser-known operatic adaptations of French playwright Pierre-Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais' (1732-1799) famed trilogy of Figaro plays: The Barber of Seville (1775), The Marriage of Figaro (1784) and The Guilty Mother(1792). NEW YORK, NY (March 3, 2015)—In the final concert of its annual series at Carnegie Hall this season, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra will be joined by Turkish pianist-composer Faz?l Say for the New York premiere of his new Chamber Symphony, Op. 62, commissioned by Orpheus as part of its American Notes initiative. Mr. Say also performs Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major with Orpheus as soloist. Making his Orpheus debut this season, Mr. Say last performed in the US at the Met Museum in April 2012. Orpheus will also perform Wagner's Siegfried Idyll and Haydn's Symphony No. 80 in D minor, both signature works from its Deutsche Grammophon catalog. (more...)

Chaffin's Barn Dinner Theatre has announced plans for its upcoming Musical Theatre Fast Track Performance Camp, as part of its summer production of the musical All Shook Up. Auditions for the show and the camp are slated for Monday, March 16, at 3 p.m. Camp dates are June 22-July 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The camp is designed for a total of 16 students, both males and females ages 12-16, to be double cast in the show. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Roundabout Theatre Company's Broadway production of On the Twentieth Century will now open on Sunday, March 15, as a result of Peter Gallagher missing a week of performances due to a sinus infection. Gallagher returned to the show yesterday, but BroadwayWorld has just learned that he will be out of both performances today, March 4, and tomorrow. Gallagher is scheduled to return on Friday, March 6. Understudy James Moye will perform the role of Oscar Jaffee in his absence. (more...)

The Chamber Music Society of Detroit at Oakland University will present its final concert of the season at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 15 in Varner Recital Hall. The show will feature the Chicago-based wind quintet Quintet Attacca, along with pianist Panayis Lyras. The all-French program will include quintets for winds, and sextets for piano and winds by Ibert, Francaix, Ravel and Poulenc. (more...)
