Village Theatre produces the most celebrated backstage musical story of our time, 42ND STREET, opening in May. This production will have one preview performance in Issaquah on Wednesday, May 12, and will officially open the following day, running May 13-July 2, 2010 in downtown Issaquah, and July 9-August 1, 2010 in downtown Everett.
Award winning director/choreographer Steve Tomkins teams up with co-choreographer Kristin Culp to stage the most extravagant production of Village Theatre's 30th Anniversary Season. 42ND STREET is packed with large scale dance numbers that utilize this team of choreographer's impeccable ability to bring the life and style of 42ND STREET to brilliant life. "42ND STREET is quite simply the ultimate in backstage musicals," director Steve Tomkins commented. "In fact, it's Hollywood's version of a backstage musical in that it's based on the 1933 film. The story takes you into the world of theatre from behind-the-scenes and allows you to experience the magic of Broadway from every angle." Boasting a largely local cast of 26, Village Theatre has put together an all-star design team with scenic design by Bob Dahlstrom (Show Boat); lighting design by Aaron Copp (Meet Me in St. Louis); costume design by Melanie Burgess (Chasing Nicolette, Stunt Girl); co-musical direction by resident music director Tim Symons (Meet Me in St. Louis) and Bruce Monroe (Show Boat); sound design by resident sound designer Gino Scarpino (The Gypsy King).42ND STREET Synopsis:
