The Fern Shakespeare Company opens its Inaugural Season of Magic in Seattle with Macbeth.

Shakespeare's dark tragedy Macbeth examines what it truly means to be human. A haunting saga most "rich and strange." Tempted by the prophecies of three witches, Macbeth grapples with power, greed and his ambitious wife. Can they spurn fate to make their own future, or are they merely pawns in a much more sinister and powerful plan?

The bard's famous tale of temptation, betrayal, and lust for power is brought to life as performed by a gender neutral cast of eight actors portraying a total of twenty-six characters.

The Fern Shakespeare Company, while new to Seattle, is in it's 5th season of production. The Fern is a 501c3 Non-Profit Professional Theatre Company which is committed to producing professional theatre of the highest quality while making Shakespeare accessible to all.

The Fern specializes in Original Practice Shakespeare, which breaks down the 'fourth wall' and presents Shakespeare as it was presented in Shakespeare's time: directly to the audience.

By breaking down the walls between actor and audience, we present Shakespeare as we believe he meant for it to be performed--to the people. Even though his plays are over 400 years old, they still resonate today because they speak to the experiences and emotions that every human has regardless of age, gender, race, or economic background.

The Fern Shakespeare Company is proud to be a member of The Shakespeare Theatre Association (STA).
