For the 2011 holiday season SecondStory will present an all-ages production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. This uplifting musical for the whole family tells the Biblical story of Joseph found in the book of Genesis. Joseph is the favorite son of Jacob, but his siblings resent the attention Jacob showers upon him as well as his coat of many colors. Joseph's brothers devise a plot to sell him into slavery, and eventually the favored son finds himself in jail. However, Joseph's interpretation of the Pharaoh's dreams wins him the admiration of the all-powerful leader, and soon Joseph is one of the most powerful men in Egypt. After his brothers come to Egypt to seek the Pharaoh's help, Joseph ultimately reunites with his family, and forgives them for their wrongdoing. Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber incorporates a diversity of musical styles into Joseph's score including catchy parodies of French ballads, Elvis inspired rock and roll, country western, reggae and more. This powerful story of family, faith, hope and love teaches us about the healing power of forgiveness and that "Any Dream Will do."
