SEATTLE CELEBRATES BERNSTEIN, a Seattle based festival to celebrate the life and works of acclaimed composer Leonard Bernstein, has announced their full schedule for the 2010 season. The festival will be held April, 2010 through June, 2010 and will include performances of On the Town and Candide at the 5th Avenue Theatre. In addition, lyricist/director Martin Charnin will host a talk entitled "WEST SIDE STORY Stories - Memories of Lenny," where he will discuss his memories of the famed composer.

The schedule is as follows:

On the Town
April 13 - May 2
This classic valentine to New York City is a delightful musical treat from the composer of West Side Story and the writers of Singin' in the Rain.

Candide
May 25 - June 13
A delectably rare musical treat, this operetta is part sophisticated social commentary, part screwball period comedy and part Monty Python!

On the Town Film Screening
Sunday, May 23
Three Sailors wreak havoc as they search for love during a whirlwind 24-hour leave in New York City. Starring Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra.

On the Waterfront Film Screening
Sunday, May 30
A classic 1954 American story of mob violence and corruption among longshoremen scored by Bernstein. With Marlon Brando, winner of eight Academy Awards.

West Side Story Film Screening
Sunday, June 6
When you're a Jet, you're a Jet all the way... and when it's a classic like West Side Story, it's a must-see on the big screen.

Seattle Theatre Group Presents Martin Charnin
Monday, June 7
Seattle Theatre Group (STG) and Showtunes Theatre Company present WEST SIDE STORY Stories - Memories of Lenny by Martin Charnin, Monday, June 7, 7:30 pm, in the Paramount Theatre lobby. This free event features Charnin's personal reminiscences and songs performed by Showtunes cast members.

Season Finale: Seattle Celebrates Bernstein Festival
Friday, June 18
Maestro Chagnard leads the orchestra through music of Bernstein, Shostakovich and Elgar with Julian Schwarz, cellist.

SEATTLE CELEBRATES BERNSTEIN is a regional Arts Festival to be held from April through June of 2010. An unprecedented consortium of the Puget Sound's arts organizations, from major to small, from established to fledgling have come together to celebrate the multi-faceted genius of Leonard Bernstein. Over three months and across the region they will hold a series of concerts, theatre, performances, lectures, film screenings and other events that celebrate Leonard Bernstein in grand style.
