The Lakewood Playhouse is Celebrating a very special day on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 18th as it has now been proclaimed LAKEWOOD PLAYHOUSE THEATRE DAY by the CITY of LAKEWOOD!

Join us as we celebrate the 50th ANNIVERSARY of Our Performance Venue in Style with a special Ribbon Cutting Ceremony with the LAKEWOOD CHAMBER of COMMERCE and a wonderful reception with food provided by CARR'S RESTURAUNT! There are sure to be a number of local dignitaries and actors from many of our productions both past and present!

The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Reception is scheduled from 5:30pm until 6:30pm!

We also encourage you to stay and see that evening's performance of A FEW GOOD MEN by Aaron Sorkin. This modern masterpiece is performed on Fridays, Saturdays at 8:00pm and Sundays at 2:00pm. Performances will be September 11th through October 11th, 2015 with Special Showings at 8:00pm on Thursday, September 17th (Pay What You Can Night) and 8:00pm on Thursday, June 18th ("Pay What You Can" Actor's Benefit). Our Ticket Prices are $25.00 (General Admission), $22.00 (Military), $21.00 (Seniors) and $19.00 (Students/Educators).

Details About the 50th ANNIVESARY of the LAKEWOOD PLAYHOUSE THEATRE

Built in 1965 by the Lakewood Community Players and the Lakewood Arts Foundation, the Lakewood Playhouse Theatre was established for the sole purpose of presenting theatrical productions. Since opening its doors 50 Years ago, the theatre has presented over 300 Productions on both its Main Stage and through its Lakewood Institute of Theatre Education Program (which was established in 2002). From THE TAMING OF THE SHREW to AVENUE Q, the theatre has been the home to the best that theatre history has to offer.

During its 50 Year History, the Lakewood Playhouse Theatre has hosted special presentations by hundreds of local groups including: The Lakewood Senior Players, the Pierce College Theatre Group, Last Ditch Efforts, New Muses Theatre, The Outfit Theatre Group, the Asian Film Festival and countless number of Music Groups.

Its current Manager, John Munn, is only the sixth Managing Artistic Director in the Lakewood Playhouse Theatre's span of 50 Years. This Golden Anniversary Season also marks John's 5th Season of Manager the theatre. Mr. Munn is proud to be supported by a Staff of incredibly creative, and dedicated, professionals and artists.

"We have assembled an amazing array of shows this Season," Munn proudly reported, "With something for everyone. The directors for each of the productions have such a passion and vision for their shows that we can't wait to share them with you!"

The Season Includes the previously mentioned A FEW GOOD MEN which is followed by the 8th Annual LIVE RADIO SHOW: THE BIRDS, William Shakespeare's THE COMEDY OF ERRORS, the 4th Annual L.I.T. Holiday Show: TREASURE ISLAND, Tom Stoppard's ARCADIA, Arthur Miller's DEATH OF A SALESMAN, Michael Frayn's NOISES OFF and concluding with the Tony Award-Winning AVENUE Q!

ABOUT CARR'S RESTURAUNT: This wonderful landmark of the City of Lakewood was established by Chris and Ellen Carr, who have lived and worked in the Lakewood area all of their lives, and have become active members in the community. Ellen is a member of Clover Park Rotary and booth support numerous community programs. Carr's Restaurant is the culmination of a dream for Chris and Ellen.
