Lee Latchford-Evans, who became famous in the 90s through the pop band Steps, is announced to play Nikolae Nikovsky to jointly host EUROBEAT Moldova at this year's Edinburgh Fringe production.

Lee Latchford-Evans - actor, singer, dancer and Fitness Expert - made his Edinburgh Fringe debut in 2009's production of 'Wolfboy', the story of two boys committed to an asylum. Since then, Latchford-Evans has appeared in various stage productions including 'Rita Sue & Bob Too', 'All Creatures Great & Small' and numerous pantomimes. Reality television shows such as 'The Games', 'Fear Factor', 'I'm Famous and Frightened', 'The Match' and went on to win Channel 5's tough military training show 'Commando VIP' - being a 2nd Dan kickboxer probably helped!

His wedding with singer Kerry-Lucy Taylor at a beautiful 18th century mansion in Surrey in 2012 was broadly featured in OK! Magazine, including a group picture with Lee's bandmates on the cover.

British pop band Steps formed in May 1997 and disbanded in December 2001. In this time they released four studio albums and seventeen singles. Their biggest hits include covers of Bee Gees' 'Tragedy' and 'Chain Reaction', also '5 6 7 8', 'One for Sorrow' and 'Stomp'. Steps were nominated for Best Newcomer at 1999 BRIT Awards, won BRIT Award for Best British Live Act in 2000 and sold over 20 million records worldwide, including 14 consecutive top 5 singles.

The band reformed in 2012 with a number one album 'Gold: Greatest Hits', sell out arena tour and two top rating TV shows. Currently each member of Steps is concentrating on solo work.

EUROBEAT Moldova is a hilarious and sequin-soaked spoof of the international phenomenon Eurovision Song Contest. This brand new show, with new songs by Craig Christie and Andrew Patterson includes entries from UK, Spain, Sweden, Poland, Ireland, Netherlands, Ukraine, Morocco, Norway and, for the first time, The Vatican!

This new EUROBEAT is hosted by Moldova - a country determined to astonish and delight audiences at every turn under the guidance of hosts Katya Kokov (a glamorous former KGB spy turned television presenter) and her side-kick Nikolae Nikovsky (winner of Moldova's Got Talent three years running) who are sure to make this a night to remember - no matter what it takes...

Live text voting will take place at the end of every show and proceeds will go to Waverley Care (Scotland's HIV and Hepatitis C charity, which is celebrating the 25th anniversary of a fundraising partnership with Pleasance) and Dickens Legacy (launched by Beckman Unicorn and Lucinda Dickens Hawksley to support Arts access and new writing).

Lee joins iconic actress Rula Lenska ('Dr. Who', 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' and most recently the BAFTA nominated BBC 2's 'Inside No 9') who stars as Katya Kokov.

On his new role, Lee Latchford-Evans said: 'I am so pleased to play Nikolae Nikovsky and star alongside an icon like Rula! It's a very witty script with some fantastic musical numbers that are produced to a very high standard. This is a show that has to be seen to be believed and I know the audiences in Edinburgh are going to have a blast. I can't wait to go back to the Fringe and let Nikolae loose at the Pleasance Grand.'

Rula Lenska said: 'Delighted to share the stage with the gorgeous and talented Lee. It's going to be a blast, fasten your seatbelt daaarlinks!'

Bruce Athol Mackinnon, producer at Beckman Unicorn said: 'We are thrilled to welcome Lee to the biggest party in Edinburgh at this year's Festival. EUROBEAT Moldova promises to transport the audience to a glamorous, irreverent, sequin-soaked world where every pop-tastic song is guaranteed to get the audience on their feet. A different country can win at every performance via the live text voting system, the proceeds from which will be distributed to two charities Waverley Care and Dickens Legacy.'

Andrew Christie, a Los Angeles-based composer has composed an epic new Eurobeat anthem 'Breaking Through' which will delight both die-hard 'Eurobeatovs' and newcomers alike. The anthem is available to download free here www.EurobeatTheShow.com.

The new bonus track from the cast album, 'My People Know How To Party' featuring Lee Latchford-Evans, will be released as a single in early June.
