Tell us a bit about Here Comes Trouble.

Here Comes Trouble is autobiographical and based on childhood memories, my upbringing and my experiences as a woman. The work weaves together traditional music, authentic song and moving, gutsy Irish and Contemporary dance.

It is a rigorous personal investigation into womanhood and my own individual identity. In a series of episodes I draw on social and cultural influences from Yorkshire, Ireland and Jamaica. The work shares hard hitting and heart-warming chapters of my life, building bridges and burning them again, within a looping structure that with each repetition reveals a deeper layer of myself, my heritage, my strength and vulnerability.

Why bring it to the Fringe?

To reach a new audience and share the Celtic heritage connection! I feel the work suits the kind of programme that the Fringe has to offer, as my work doesn't fit just one genre; it includes traditional dance, storytelling, song and much more.

I'm excited to bring the work to the Fringe as there is always such a friendly vibe!

What sets it apart from other dance shows at the festival?

Here Comes Trouble fuses together Irish & contemporary dance, theatre, song, and storytelling - a real mix of arts!

Who would you recommend comes to see your show?

Anybody that is interested in music, dance, storytelling and heritage! The work represents the working class, told through a woman's perspective, sharing childhood memories and cultural references. So if you can relate to any of those, the work will relate to you!

Are there any other performances you're hoping to catch at the festival?

Yes - LEVIATHAN by James Wilton Dance, Cosmic Scallies - Written by Jackie Hagan

And generally as much as possible! Music, Cabaret, dance, comedy - I want to see it all!
