The Arches, Glasgow has announced its autumn theatre season, including the return of one of their most successful productions ever, the smash hit international touring sensation Bullet Catch. The show, which has seen sell-out success in London, Edinburgh, New York and Brazil, will return to The Arches for a 2-week run this month. Each night, an audience member will be asked to fire a gun live on stage, as Rob Drummond attempts the most infamous stunt of them all, so dangerous Houdini himself refused to perform it.

Jackie Wylie, Artistic Director of The Arches said: "This autumn, The Arches presents a challenging and engaging season of theatre and performance, with shows and events that capture the full range of our ever-growing artistic output. Originally created at The Arches, we are delighted to welcome Rob Drummond's Bullet Catch back for a full run in our newly refurbished Studio Theatre, following sell-out success at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, The National Theatre, London and as far afield as New York and Brazil.

As we look to the next generation of artists and work, Arches LIVE provides an essential platform for theatre makers, and this year sees a lively debate about artists as political activists. With five days of performances featuring over 20 of the most exciting emerging artists alongside those more established but trying something new, we'll once again be inviting our audience to explore every corner of The Arches and be inspired and challenged along the way.

I'm particularly excited that Janice Parker will be in residence at The Arches creating a brand new piece, Private Party, to be shown here in October. Elsewhere in the programme, we will be continuing our successful relationship with Glasgay! with new writing from Stef Smith and cabaret from Scottee, as well as welcoming Chris Goode and Company with their award winning show Monkey Bars and Ellie Harrison's Etiquette of Grief. Our Christmas show, always a firm favourite with children and families, is Robert Alan Evans' magical taleThe Night Before Christmas, while Tranny & Roseannah will be presenting an alternative not-for-children Christmas show A Gay in a Manger".

At the centre of the season is the return of international smash-hit Bullet Catch (1st - 13th Oct), to The Arches following sell-out runs in New York, Brazil, Brighton and at the Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh and The National Theatre, London. From award winning writer and performer Rob Drummond (The Riot of Spring, Quiz Show, Mr. Write) and director David Overend, Bullet Catch is a unique theatrical show featuring magic, storytelling, mind reading, levitation, games of chance and, if you're brave enough to stay for it, the most notorious finale in show business.

The Arches' annual festival of brave new performance Arches LIVE (17th - 28th Sept) returns in September. This year's festival sees artists becoming campaigners and activists, as well as questioning who can identify as an artist. Featuring new work from over 20 artists including Rosana Cade, Eilidh MacAskill, Adrian Howells, Michael John O'Neill and Steve Slater, Arches LIVE will see shows, installations and performances taking place in every nook and cranny of The Arches. Rosanna Cade will be exploring attitudes to sex work and gender with her sister Amy in a work-in-progress showing of Sister, Shafted?! is part of a campaign against cuts to HIV services in Glasgow and around the UK, culminating in an HIV-positive human cannonball being launched over the audience, while Gary Gardiner and Adrian Howells will be looking at who can be an artist through their work with Ian Johnston.

Later in the autumn acclaimed choreographer Janice Parker will be in residence at The Arches creating a new show Private Party (24th - 27th Oct). Working with an ensemble group of learning disabled and non-learning disabled dancers Janice will be creating a new immersive performance in collaboration with Richard Layzell.

The annual Glasgay! Festival will see new writing from Olivier Award winning playwright Stef Smith; Cured (22nd - 26th Oct) is a brand new play about love, identity, and The Golden Girls, inspired by real-life accounts of conversion therapy. Award-winning cabaret artist Scottee will be performing The Worst of Scottee (31st Oct), following a successful run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, for a special one night only Glasgay! performance.

Chris Goode and Company will be performing their Fringe First winning show Monkey Bars (5th - 6th Nov) featuring the words of forty 8-10 year olds performed by adults, while Ellie Harrison's Etiquette of Grief (12th Nov) explores how we deal with public and private grief in all its forms.

Rounding off the autumn season, The Arches' Christmas show has become an annual theatrical treat for children aged 3 -7 and their families. This year, Robert Alan Evans' magical tale The Night Before Christmas (4th Dec - 5th Jan) will see Christmas-hater Carol find a little festive spirit with the help of an elf hiding under her bed! Meanwhile Arches favourites Tranny and Roseannah will be presenting an adults-only Christmas show, A Gay in a Manger (12th - 21st Dec).
