Manila, Philippines--WICKED, the Broadway and London's West End blockbuster, acclaimed as "one of the greatest musicals of our time" (Daily Mail, UK), is set to cast its magical spell over Manila audiences when it returns in February 2017. The incredible production, which is coming direct from a multi record-breaking tour of the UK and Ireland, flies into Manila for a special limited engagement as part of a major international tour.

The "gravity defying hit" (Time Out, London) has already enchanted 50 million theatergoers of all ages across the world and won over 100 awards including three Tony Awards on Broadway, two Olivier Awards in London, six Helpmann Awards in Australia, and a Grammy Award.

Set in a spectacular and colorful fantasy world of wizards, witches, magic, and spells, WICKED tells the story of an unlikely but profound friendship between a popular blonde girl, Galinda, and a misunderstood, green-skinned girl, Elphaba. Filled with wonder and enchantments, the magical stage musical follows their extraordinary journey from sorcery students to becoming the iconic Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West from L. Frank Baum's beloved tale "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz."

WICKED has music and lyrics by multi-Grammy and Academy Award winner Stephen Schwartz ("Godspell, "Disney's "Pocahontas" and "The Hunchback of Notre Dame") and is based on the novel "Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West" by Gregory Maguire and adapted for the stage by Winnie Holzman. Musical staging is by Tony Award winner Wayne Cilento and the production is directed by two-time Tony Award winner Joe Mantello.

WICKED is produced by Marc Platt, Universal Stage Productions, The Araca Group, Jon B. Platt and David Stone. The executive producer of the UK & International Tour is Michael McCabe. The Manila engagement is presented by Lunchbox Theatrical Productions and Concertus Manila.
