The Egg Play is coming to Philadelphia before it hits the New York Fringe Festival. A new comic drama by Candice Benge, is a traditional story told in an unconventional way. Benge employs overlapping dialogue, rhythm, counter point, and commedia to tell a story that focuses on the struggles of today's modern age like infidelity, abortion, and fertility; while also questioning how we perceive and therefore remember the world around us.

Benge's new work reads much like Samuel Beckett text, she likes to say The Egg Play is like "Our Town procreates with No Exit and makes an absurd, violent, and strangely funny baby. That baby is The Egg Play. Three characters, one persistent doorbell, and a memory that refuses to recognize it has long overstayed its welcome.

This fast paced play deals with the memories of two 30-somethings as they struggle with their inability to conceive. A single room, three characters, one persistent doorbell, and a memory that refuses to recognize it has long overstayed it's welcome. The Egg Play is delightfully daring, charmingly challenging, and as entertaining as it is enlightening. With only one night in Philadelphia with just $10 tickets, and limited seating, this world premiere is not to be missed.
