Tickets are now on sale for the 14th annual Philly Fringe, which runs in conjunction with the Philadelphia Live Arts Festival from September 3 - 18. The Philly Fringe will host 183 artists or companies performing 188 shows in venues throughout Philadelphia for the largest Fringe in festival history, topping 2009's record breaking number of productions. The 2010 Fringe line-up will include theater, dance, comedy, performance art, music, poetry, puppetry, visual art, and work that incorporates multiple genres and disciplines, offering audiences the excitement of discovering new work from the region's vibrant performing arts community as well as artists from around the country.

In the "unfiltered" Philly Fringe, festival artists present their work free of a selection process to create a show with box office and marketing support. For some, participating in the Fringe is a once-a-year or once-in-a-lifetime opportunity while, for many professional companies participating it can be an opportunity to debut their newest work to the Festival's audiences.

Artists in this year's Philly Fringe hail from Philadelphia and other Pennsylvania cities and suburbs, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Washington D.C., Ohio, and as far away as Georgia, Tennessee, and California.

"Now in our 14th year, the Philly Fringe is well on its way to becoming the largest Fringe festival in the country," says John Emory, Philly Fringe Coordinator. "We've seen record-breaking participation that continues to grow each year. We're literally spilling in to the streets, turning our entire city into one giant stage!"

In conjunction with the Fringe, the Philadelphia Live Arts Festival features performances by international and local acclaimed contemporary performing artists who are selected and invited to the Festival. Together, the Philadelphia Live Arts Festival and Philly Fringe draw over 30,000 people who come to be a part of "Festival time" in the city, experience innovative work, meet new people, and interact with thousands of artists.

TICKETS
All Philly Fringe tickets, along with Live Arts Festival tickets, are now available for purchase online at www.livearts-fringe.org, or after August 23 by calling the Box Office at (215) 413-1318, or visiting in person. Tickets for most Philly Fringe shows are between $10 and $30. The Festival Box Office at The Hub is located at 626 North 5th Street (SW Corner of 5th and Fairmount Streets) in Northern Liberties and features free parking. For Box Office hours and additional ticketing information, visit www.livearts-fringe.org/box-office-ticket-info.cfm.

THEATER
Several established theater artists and companies in Philadelphia's performing arts community will present at 2010's Philly Fringe, including the New Orleans-transplanted EgoPo Productions, who will follow up last year's interactive production of Samuel Beckett's Company (one of the Top 10 shows of the 2009-2010 season, Philadelphia Weekly), with The Persecution and Assassination of Jean-Paul Marat as Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum of Charenton Under the Direction of the Marquis de Sade.

Theatre Exile will make their Fringe debut with Rona Munro's Iron, starring F. Otto Haas Award recipient Catharine Slusar (Act II's Any Given Monday, InterAct's Frozen) and Barrymore Award-winner Kim Carson (Brat Production's Haunted Poe, Azuka Theatre's Hedwig and the Angry Inch).

Many other local Festival favorites will be returning for this year's Fringe including IdRatherBeHere, the company behind the sold-out Wawapalooza series ('07-'09). This year, the company will present the next chapter in the parody series, the World premiere of Wawapalooza 4: Damaged Goods. After 180 performances across the nation, Iron Age Theatre will make their homecoming with Marx in Soho. The Idiopathic Ridiculopathy Consortium, Luna Theater Company, Madhouse Theater Company, Plays & Players, and Tribe of Fools, will also be among this year's returning favorites.

DANCE
Philly Fringe dance highlights include Leah Stein Dance Company with percussionist Toshi Makihara taking audiences on a dance journey through the 17th Century Shofuso Japanese House and Garden in Fairmount Park. Pink Hair Affair will present the world premiere of Meld, a celebration of Philadelphia's melting pot of creativity, while MM2 Modern Dance (formerly known as Music & Motion Dance Productions) returns to the Fringe for a sixth year. Other returning dance artists include Danse4Nia Repertory Ensemble, keila kordova dances, Mascher Dance, Vada Dance Collective, and Xhale Dance Company.

IMPROV / COMEDY
A popular destination for improvisational theater, stand-up, and sketch comedy, the Philly Fringe will include comedy and improv groups such as Fringe veterans The N Crowd, The Waitstaff, and Philly Improv Theater.

INTERDISCIPLINARY
The Fringe will also showcase many other performing arts disciplines including music from Center City Opera Theater, Poor Richard's Opera, SRUTI The India Music and Dance Society, and Xtreme Folk Scene who are returning for their eighth year with the festival. Interdisciplinary performances will be presented by Cuddle Magic & Philadelphia's Magic Gardens, Green Light Arts, and Represented Theatre Company, with puppetry from Little Bunny Voodoo, and visual art from Daniel Barrow, Linda Dubin Garfield, and Sam Green, among others. Inspired by 2007's treasure hunt through Philadelphia, AFOOT!, the Brothers Cromie will present another free walkabout for this year's Fringe that will explore the giant game board of Northern Liberties with AFOOT 2!: Northern Liberties.

FESTIVAL BAR
Each night of the Festival will end at The Festival Bar, a unique experiential venue which premiered at the 2008 Festival. Against a backdrop of artist installations, The Festival Bar serves as a versatile after-hours space for Festival goers to interact with artists, socialize with one another, grab a cocktail and enjoy delicious food, music and more at the end of each Festival day. This year, the bar moves to the former Club Egypt on the Southwest corner of Spring Garden and Columbus Boulevard in Northern Liberties. Festival Bar admission is free, and 21+.
