Harrisburg Shakespeare Co Presents Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead

Harrisburg Shakespeare Company will present Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead by Tom Stoppard which will run Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from March 9 – 25, 2012 at Gamut Classic Theatre, located at 605 Strawberry Square, Downtown Harrisburg.

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead is the tale of Hamlet as told from the worm's-eye view of the bewildered Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, two minor characters in Shakespeare's play. In Tom Stoppard's best-known work, this Shakespearean Laurel and Hardy finally get a chance to take the lead role, but do so in a world where reality and illusion intermix and where fate leads our two heroes to a tragic but inevitable end.

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern is directed by guest director, Dan Burke. His concept for the show focuses on time, the character's lack of direction, and life and death. The two main characters, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, are minor characters in Shakespeare's Hamlet. They have no (or take no) control over their situation, thus they have nowhere to go and are waiting for life or death to come to them.

Scenic design by Ian Potter; sound design by Mike Banks; costume design by L.A. Hammond; and produced by Melissa Nicholson.

Gamut Theatre Group is led by Artistic Director Clark Nicholson and Executive Director Melissa Nicholson.

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead will be presented at Gamut Classic Theatre in Strawberry Square from March 9 through 25 on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm and on Sundays at 2:30pm. Tickets are $27 for adults and $17 for students/seniors.

Friday performances are Buy-One-Get-One free ticket shows; Sunday performances are Bring Your Own Price shows, where any size donation buys your admission.
