Bristol Riverside Theatre concludes its Summer Musicale series with Broadway Rocks on August 12-22. This homage to Broadway showstoppers features Demetria Joyce Bailey, Justin Gabriel Ballasy, Lois Sach Binder, Anthony D'Amato, Jennie Eisenhower and John D. Smitherman performing some of Broadway's most popular songs by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Elton John, Stephen Sondheim and Leonard Bernstein. The show follows the pulse of Broadway, from Give My Regards to Broadway through Tin Pan Alley, and includes selections from West Side Story, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, Hair, Into the Woods, Putting it Together, all the way to Rock of Ages.

Demetria Joyce Bailey has been a summer favorite this year at BRT, delighting audiences in the two previous musicale programs, Too Darn Hot and Journeys of the Night. Nominated for a Barrymore Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical for Ethel Waters, her other honors include serving as Music Director for the Emmy Award-winning Gimme the Mic Philadelphia. She has appeared as Lubebell in Purlie, Chiffon in Little Shop of Horrors, and Sister Mary Leo in Nunsense.

14 year old Justin Gabriel Ballasy won BRT's StarQuest 2010 talent show last spring as the most talented person in Bucks County with a self-choreographed solo tap dance routine. A four-year member of New York's Tap City Youth Ensemble, he has performed at Symphony Space, Kimmel Center, Arts Bank, State Theatre in Ithaca, Kennedy Plaza in Atlantic City, and Skipper's Jazz Club in Newark, NJ. On television he has appeared on Nickelodeon, MTV, and America's Got Talent.
Lois Sach Binder returns to BRT fresh from her recent turn in Snow White: a Musical Panto at People's Light and Theatre Company. She performed in RESPECT at Act II Playhouse/Society Hill Playhouse and was critically acclaimed as Iowa Housewife in MENOPAUSE THE MUSICAL during her successful four year run. She has also appeared in Hello Dolly at Walnut Street Theatre, Lies and Legends: The Musical Stories of Harry Chapin at Act II Playhouse, Larry Gatlin's Texas Flyer at TUTS, The Music Man at North Carolina Theatre, and All Shook Up at Media Theatre.
Anthony D'Amato is a favorite performer with the Musicale Series. He has appeared in Hedwig & the Angry Inch, HAIR, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Who's TOMMY, Blood Brothers, The Rocky Horror Show, Little Shop of Horrors, and Bat Boy. He has appeared in and contributed direction to "HAIR: Let the Sun Shine In" on the Sundance Channel.

Jennie Eisenhower recently appeared at BRT last winter in The Foreigner. She has won a Barrymore Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical for Forbidden Broadway and for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Musical for The Wild Party. She has also appeared in the title roles of Hedda Gabler with Mauckingbird Theatre Company and St. Joan at Olney Theatre as well as in Baby Case at Arden Theatre Company, Embarrassments at The Wilma Theatre, and Adrift in Macao at Philadelphia Theatre Company.

John D. Smitherman comes to BRT following a tour with Shirley Jones and the Hollywood Symphony. Chosen to be one of the original three American tenors, which included a whirlwind of performances and recordings, he has performed at theaters around the country in Out of Order (Handy Award: Best Actor in a Comedy), Oklahoma (Apple Award: Best Actor in a Musical), South Pacific (Grandview Award: Best Supporting Actor in a Musical), The Secret Garden (Salt Award: Best Actor in a Musical), and Jekyll & Hyde (Salt Award: Best Actor in a Musical).

Since 1986, BRT has brought consistently acclaimed professional theatre to Bucks County and maintained a long-term commitment to finding and developing new plays. The theatre is the recipient of over 50 Barrymore Award nominations for Excellence in Theatre, given annually by the Theatre Alliance of Greater Philadelphia. In addition to its mainstage productions, the theatre serves as a cultural hub for the community, with such programs as children's theatre, community concerts and exhibitions of local visual arts.
