David Ives tells the seductive yet funny tale of Vanda, an actress on an unwavering quest to win the lead in Thomas' new play, based on the classic erotic novel, Venus in Fur. Vanda's eager and captivating depiction electrifies the room and leads the pair into a whirlwind power struggle that teeters between reality and fantasy.

The Philadelphia Theatre Company's production of Venus in Fur is dark, griping and sexy, mostly due to the vivid and intoxicating portrayal of Vanda by Jenni Putney. Her seamless shift from one character into another, taking on an accent along with an intense transformation in her eyes, is simply impressive. Putney brazenly dominates a smart production where, together with Mark Alhadeff as Thomas, they spiral through centuries, characters, power and lust, keeping you on The Edge of your seat.

Performances of Venus in Fur by the Philadelphia Theatre Company run through June 23. For tickets and more information, visit http://www.philadelphiatheatrecompany.org/.
