The first rule of Improv Club is entertainment -- and the second rule is making sure you know it's on July 25 and August 29 at the Bedford RSL Club.

Presented by Just Improvise, Improv Club is two jabs and a right hook of unpredictable, hard-hitting and unscripted theatre in three acts delivered by a trio of improvisational groups in an underground cabaret-style setting.

Act one makes fun of movies with Manfred Yon and Alex Circosta creating a never-before-seen blockbuster, based on audience suggestions, delivered in 15 minutes.

In act two, known as Divergent Minds, improvisers enter the realm of the seemingly impossible with each performer playing out multiple scenes, in any time or place, using one central character.

The segment features Jane Maynard, Claudia Fontane, Cass Rowles, Leone Rose, Sabrina Seconi and Catherine Seed.

Act three is divided into three stories, inspired by three different suggestions, played by three individuals (Esther Longhurst, Glenn Hall and Chris Bedding) -- yet masterfully woven together.

Just Improvise creative director and WA Academy of Performing Arts improv lecturer Glenn Hall said Improv Club is a new way of showing improvisation to Perth audiences.

"We have a lot of improvisers in Perth and a lot of those people deserve to have their work seen - but there aren't many opportunities for the many improv ensembles that have formed in Perth in the past few years to show off what they can do," he said.

"The night consists of three different improv performances by three different improv troupes who each practice regularly and have worked together to create their own style and their own vision for what's possible with improvisation."

Just Improvise has been producing live scripted and unscripted theatre to popular and critical acclaim since 2000 - and three of its works have toured nationally.

The company also provides training and entertaining, for business and pleasure, using the philosophy and skills of improvisation for workplace programs and professional development and inspirational courses for the public.

Before Improv Club, Hall, Longhurst and Bedding will be training and performing at this year's Improvention in Canberra, the largest improv festival in the southern hemisphere. Hall is performing in a duo alongside international improv legend David Razowsky of Whose Line is it Anyway? and Dreamworks fame.

Razowsky is the former artistic director of The Second City Training Centre and has worked with Steve Carell and Stephen Colbert.

Improv Club is on at the Bedford RSL Club at 8pm, July 25 and August 29. Tickets are $20 pre-sale through www.justimprovise.com.au or $25 at the door BYO drinks and nibbles. The Bedford RSL Club is at 182 Grand Promenade, Bedford (near IGA).
