The first play of ACT's 50th Anniversary Season will be packed with talent. Broadway alums and Seattle favorites Laura Griffith and Brandon O'Neill will play Maggie the Cat and Brick, one of the most iconic couples in the theatrical canon. John Aylward, a Seattle treasure who went on to make a name for himself in Hollywood with recurring roles on ER, The West Wing, and Mad Men, will play the family patriarch Big Daddy. Rounding out the cast of leading roles will be elite Seattle acting veteran Marianne Owen as Big Mama. Kurt Beattie, in his final year as Artistic Director will direct this powerhouse cast. The Board of Governors of Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carre announced the hiring of Maxwell Williams, Associate Artistic Director of the highly regarded Hartford Stage in Connecticut, as the theatre's new Artistic Director. Williams has been a member of the Hartford Stage artistic team for several years, serving as Associate Artistic Director for the past three seasons. Hartford Stage seasons regularly include world premieres of plays and musicals by established and emerging writers, including the 2011 Pulitzer Prize winner Water by the Spoonful and the recent Broadway hit, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder. This production is directed by Christopher Liam Moore, an Oregon Shakespeare Festival company member, who directed our 2013 hit comedy Red Herring, and who recently returned from a stint on Broadway with the Tony Award-winning All the Way. We reported earlier this week that Laura Michelle Kelly was headed back to Broadway in Finding Neverland, via a NY Times scoop. Today, producer Harvey Weinstein confirmed that Olivier Award winner Laura Michelle Kelly (Mary Poppins) and three-time TonyŽ Award-nominee Carolee Carmello (Parade), who played the roles of Sylvia Llewelyn Davis and Madame du Maurier, respectively, in Finding Neverland when it premiered at the American Repertory Theatre earlier this year, will reprise their roles on Broadway.
