Jeremy Jordan Leaves Boston for THE LAST FIVE YEARS Premiere; Returns to FINDING NEVERLAND for Tuesday Performance

THE LAST 5 YEARS, Richard LaGravenese's (BEHIND THE CANDELABRA) big screen adaptation of the 2002 Off-Broadway musical by Tony Award winning composer and lyricist Jason Robert Brown, just premiered yesterday at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival, and Broadway favorite Jeremy Jordan was there for the big event. Jordan, who is currently starring in the Broadway-bound production of FINDING NEVERLAND at The American Repertory Theatre, made the trek from Boston to Toronto after yesterday's matinee to attend the premiere, according to Deadline. He will return to the A.R.T. in time for Tuesday night's performance. (more...)

Along with the wonderful Broadway Under the Stars concerts that we have at TTC, we also had a tremendous week of other special events including our third Guest Artist concert, Inspiration Initiative Day and our final Skits Under the Stars night. All of these events happened on our days off from the Music of the Night concerts and I feel tremendously inspired by it all. Looking at my calendar this past week made me slightly nervous that I wouldn't have enough time to fit everything in but actually it was all accomplished and enjoyed at the same time. For me, this was an excellent reminder that we are all capable of taking on SO much more than our minds might normally think. There is not a single second to waste with all of life's beauty at our fingertips. That's truly how every delicious day is at TTC. Satisfyingly full. (more...)

ALL THE WAY's Bryan Cranston Wins Tony for Best Actor in a Play

Bryan Cranston won the 2014 Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play for ALL THE WAY. This is Bryan Cranston's first Tony nomination. Cranston began his acting career in local and regional theatres, getting his start at the Granada Theater in the San Fernando Valley. He is best known for portraying Walter White in Breaking Bad from 2008 to 2013, and Hal in Malcolm in the Middle from 2000 to 2006. He won four Emmy Awards and was nominated for five more. (more...)

New Dramatists' Todd London Named Executive Director of University of Washington School of Drama

Todd London - writer, scholar, and current artistic director of New Dramatists in New York - has been named the new Executive Director of the School of Drama at the University of Washington. Dr. London will also serve as a professor in the School. He will be relocating to Seattle from New York this summer and will officially assume his role as Executive Director on August 1, 2014. This appointment is pending formal approval by the University of Washington Board of Regents. (more...)

OSF-Commissioned ALL THE WAY Wins Five IRNE Awards

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) is delighted that The American Repertory Theatre (ART) production of Robert Schenkkan's All the Way, staged in the fall of 2013 and directed by OSF Artistic Director Bill Rauch, received five Independent Reviewers of New England (IRNE) Awards. All the Way, which had its world premiere at OSF in 2012, is now playing on Broadway at the Neil Simon Theatre through June 29, 2014. (more...)
