Tony Award winner Brian Stokes Mitchell today announced the release of his second self-produced solo album SIMPLY BROADWAY, and, to inaugurate his 2012-2013 concert year, a five city charitable tour.

Feinstein's at Loews Regency will continue its Fall 2012 season with the return of singer and television star Linda Purl, in her new show "Midnight Caravan: Travels through the Great New York Clubs." Recapturing the glamour of New York's swank hotspots like The Copacabana and The Blue Angel, Purl invokes the smoky, after-hours world of the 1940s and 50s. With musical direction by Tedd Firth, "Midnight Caravan" includes songs such as "Easy Living," "I Thought About You," and "My Romance," to name just a few.

The York Theatre Company will honor legendary Broadway Music Director and Conductor Paul Gemignani with the Oscar Hammerstein Award for Lifetime Achievement in Musical Theatre at the 21st Annual Oscar Hammerstein Award Gala to be held on Monday, November 19, 2012 at The Edison Ballroom (240 West 47th Street).

Jim Caruso's Cast Party has been jokingly called "the Ellis Island of Cabaret," because at one time or another, all great talent seems to come through the historic Birdland doors. Monday night, September 10th, was certainly no exception, and even a little more star-filled than usual. Long-time Cast Party stalwart, Liza Minnelli showed up with concert superstar Michael Feinstein to celebrate her return to "Arrested Development," and his new gig as lead conductor of the Pasadena Pops. Feinstein's at Loews Regency presents the New York debut duet engagement of two-time Emmy and five-time Grammy-nominated entertainer Michael Feinstein, and acclaimed Grammy-nominated vocalist Marilyn Maye, through September 22. The two powerhouse entertainers share the nightclub stage for the first time in an evening of dynamic entertainment including pop standards, boogie woogie classics and audience favorites. Monday night's episode of Jim Caruso's Cast Party was like a modern-day "Ed Sullivan Show," thanks to a wide array of wonderful talent. From 11-year-old jazz trumpet player Geoff Gallante, who played and crooned "Bare Necessities," to "Beauty And The Geek" star Richard Rubin, the 'extreme open mic' entertained the packed house into the wee hours.

Making good on his promise to eventually show up in Orange County to speak about his enduring career in the theater, legendary Broadway composer Stephen Sondheim finally made his long-awaited appearance at the Segerstrom Concert Hall in Costa Mesa for the landmark event STEPHEN SONDHEIM: IN CONVERSATION on July 13. Back to provide live performances were Christine Ebersole and Brian Stokes-Mitchell, while ASCAP Musical Theater scholar Michael Kerker hosted the talk show/concert hybrid.

I am not given to gushing but, with apologies for doing so, I am about to gush. You see, on Saturday evening, I felt very privileged. For on that night, I went to Las Vegas' gorgeous Smith Center for the Arts and saw Stephen Sondheim: A Life In The Theater, An Evening of Music and Conversation.

On Saturday June 30, Valley Performing Arts Center, Northridge played host to the exquisite Miss Barbara Cook, still radiant at 84, who is perhaps the greatest legendary singer to ever grace a stage. What can one say about this living legend that has not already been said to death? I can only add that being in her presence, as I sat in the vast auditorium, I felt like I had been invited into her living room and was sharing a gift that she was giving to me alone and then, of course, to everyone else lucky enough to be there. She made each and every one feel special.

On Monday night, the Broadway at Birdland concert series was proud to present Jeremy Kushnier in concert. His special musical guests included former leading ladies Jennifer Laura Thompson, Tarea Campbell, wife Jenny Lee Stern and his co-star in the current Broadway production of Jesus Christ Superstar, Paul Nolan. Sonny Paladino was musical director for the evening.
