The score to Scott Frankel and Michael Korie's Off-Broadway musical FAR FROM HEAVEN may be less than memorable, but gorgeous visuals and a superb performance by Jennifer Ellis as Cathy make SpeakEasy Stage's 2014-15 season opener unforgettable.

Duke Street Theatre, a brand new studio theatre space developed from a disused warehouse is set to open in High Wycombe on the 5th November with a production of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty's Lucky Stiff by Renegade Theatre Company.

Arts on the Horizon, the DC metro area's only theatre company that is exclusively focused on creating original work for children ages 0 - 6, presents Snow Day, which will run December 3 - 14, 2014 at the W-3 Theatre at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, VA. This nonverbal play, written and directed by Rex Daugherty, includes live violin music. Snow Day is created specifically for an audience of children ages 2 - 6 and their families.

Core Artist Ensemble, the theater company born from a Barrow Group Theatre master class in 2011 and hailed for 'their eye for quality and their penchant for collaboration' (http://drama-queens.net), will showcase 7 new one-acts this October in 'Twisted Shorts.' These 7 plays were chosen from a pool of over 40 works that were featured this summer in Core's 3rd annual Summer Reading Series.

L. A. Unified, a solo show written and performed by David Newer, will play at the Theatre Row Complex (410 W. 42nd St.) as part of the United Solo Festival tonight, October 11th and 20th starting at 7:30PM. New York, NY (October 9th, 2014) Broken Heart Land, a Finalist in the 2012 Native American New Play Festival is a full-length play by Cherokee Nation playwright Vicki Lynn Mooney and directed by Tony White. Broken Heart Land is the heart wrenching story of Alma Wimsey, the mixed-blood daughter of a Cherokee father and white mother. At thirteen she is manipulated into an arranged marriage so that her white grandfather can gain control over her tribal land including the valuable railroad through Tulsa. The story is one of love and power within the Native community during the devastating land grab by white interlopers in Oklahoma when it was still Indian Territory.

Following a smash-hit Edinburgh Fringe debut, sold out shows Off-Broadway at 59E59 Theatres and on the West End in London, US actress, comedian & writer Lucie Pohl takes her 5 star solo show 'Hi, Hitler' directed by terraNova's Jessi D. Hill to IRT Theater in New York City for a 2 week run opening on October 22nd at 7:30pm.

59E59 Theaters will welcome Godlight Theatre Company with the world premiere of James Dickey's DELIVERANCE, based on his acclaimed novel, adapted by Sean Tyler, directed by Joe Tantalo. DELIVERANCE begins performances tonight, October 10 for a limited engagement through Sunday, November 9.

The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis opens the 2014-2015 Studio Theatre series with A Kid Like Jake Jake by Daniel Pearle and directed by Seth Gordon. This moving production will be performed in the Emerson Studio Theatre of the Loretto-Hilton center for the Performing Arts, 130 Edgar Road (on the campus of Webster University), Webster Groves, October 29-November 16, 2014.

From October 24 through November 29, 2014, SpeakEasy Stage Company will present the New England premiere of BAD JEWS, a seriously smart comedy about family, faith, and legacy, written by Joshua Harmon.

The Chan Centre for the Performing Arts at the University of British Columbia (UBC) presents the Canadian debut of famed Irish ensemble The Gloaming on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 8pm in the Chan Shun Concert Hall. Hailed as “one of the great forces in Irish music” by The Irish Times, the five-member ensemble navigates between contemporary and traditional sounds, creating original music that is haunting and beautiful in equal measure.

The Rainbow Theatre Project launches their second season on Monday, October 20, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. with an evening of staged readings featuring David Csontos' My Night with Rock Hudson, paired with four plays, affectionately referred to as the "Betty & Veronica Plays," by Mary Steelsmith. Armando Merlo, who won a FringeNYC Solo Show Excellence Award in 2012 for his solo show, Salamander Starts Over, directs.

Arch 468 and Ovalhouse present MilkMilkLemonade. Pull up a haybale for the UK premiere of Joshua Conkel's US cult comedy about growing up a bit weird. Directed by Rebecca Atkinson-Lord, the production will run at today, Ovalhouse 8-25 October 2014, with press night set for Friday 10th October 7.30pm.
