Empty Space.....Peter Brook Awards 2014 -- presented by London TheatReviews (www.blanchemarvin.com), V&A Theatre Dept, and National Theatre Studio -- will take place at the National Theatre Studio on November 4, 2014.

The Empty Space...Peter Brook Award (£2,000), the Dan Crawford Innovation Award (£2,000), the Peter Brook Special Achievement Award (honoring two special guests), the Mark Marvin Rent Subsidy Award (£1,500), the Peter Brook/Equity Ensemble Award (£2,000) and the Peter Brook Festival Award (£2,000) will all be presented.

The selection panel for the awards are: Lyn Gardner (Guardian), Dominic Cavendish (Telegraph), Mark Shenton (The Stage & Stage Blog), Fiona Mountford (Evening Standard), Andrzej Lukowski (Time Out), and Blanche Marvin (London TheatReviews + founder of the awards). The nominees are the Unicorn Theatre (Purni Morelll), Union Theatre (Sasha Regan), Theatre 503 (Paul Robinson), Orange Tree Theatre (Paul Miller), Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory (Andrew Hilton) and Park Theatre (Jez Bond). The consultants are: Michael Billington (Guardian), Susannah Clapp (Observer), Jeremy Kingston (The Times) and Paul Taylor (The Independent).

The panel evaluates the nominees and winner, giving careful thought to the choosing. They receive their cheques, certificates plus the critics' written summaries of their body of work. These awards are vital in furthering the fundraising for the venues and changing the face of theatre.

In order for Gifted Companies to present their work in London and for the Fringe/Studio Theatres to afford to book them, these awards have been established. The annual Mark Marvin Rent Subsidy Award of £1,500 will be awarded each year in perpetuity with the hope that matching funds will be made available. The annual Peter Brook/Equity Ensemble Award of £2,000 is to help establish deeper development of ensemble work within the studio theatres. The annual Peter Brook Festival Award of £2,000 is to aid emerging companies in the creation of festivals. Nominees will be announced shortly.

Peter Wilson (producer of The Woman in Black at the Fortune), Laura Collier (head of the National Theatre Studio), Thelma Holt (West End producer) and Blanche Marvin (publisher/critic of London TheatReviews + founder of the awards) are the judges. Julian Bird of SOLT is the administrator.
