From Here to Eternity, Gone with the Wind, In Harm's Way, War and Peace…Classic literature and film where war in any century or country divides families, loved ones and nations. Renaissance Theaterworks opens their 2014-2015 season in the Studio Theatre continuing this compelling tradition with the Midwest premiere of Amelia-Playwright Alex Webb's soul-searching tribute to a woman trapped in America's struggle to end slavery. Beginning in 1861, the 'Great' Civil War tore homes, the land and lives figuratively and literally asunder for four years while the subtle aftereffects rage hidden in some human hearts 150 years later.

TDPS Production 'COLLIDESCOPE' to Expand National Discussion on Race in America, 11/7-14

In response to the seemingly perpetual killings of young black men in America, internationally acclaimed auteur Ping Chong and noted director and dramaturg Talvin Wilks createdCollidescope: Adventures in Pre- and Post-Racial America in collaboration with UMD School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies' graduate and undergraduate designers and performers. The show runs November 7-14 in the Kogod Theatre at The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center and is a world premiere performance.

Florida Studio Theatre Announces the Opening of Green Room Late Nights

At Florida Studio Theatre, the full theatrical experience doesn't end with the final curtain call. Beginning on November 15, FST's Green Room will remain open on Friday and Saturday evenings from 9pm to 12am. Green Room Late Nights provide a warm and inviting atmosphere to relax and enjoy the theatre even after the performance has ended. FST's full bar is available, along with an after-hours menu. YALE REPERTORY THEATRE presents the world premiere of WAR by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz, November 21–December 13 at Yale Repertory Theatre (1120 Chapel Street). Sundance Institute Sets Projects, Artists for Fall Theatre Labs

Sundance Institute today announced the projects and artists that will participate in its two Fall artist development programs: the inaugural Playwrights Studio at Flying Point in Water Mill, NY (October 19-26), as well as the two-week Theatre Lab (November 30 - December 14) for musical theatre, ensemble-generated projects and solo work at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA). Under the supervision of Artistic Director Philip Himberg and Producing Director Christopher Hibma, the initiatives are among the Theatre Program's five annual Labs and Residencies for theatre artists and part of the 24 artist residency labs across many creative disciplines Sundance Institute offers annually.
