Improv comedy - it has helped spawn the careers of comedy titans Chris Farley, Steve Carrell, Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, and countless others. The comedic skills people learned there have spread around the world and spawned off thousands of improv theatre & sketch groups, TV shows, and Youtube clips. Now those talents are being put to use to continue putting Northwest Indiana on the improv map in a special one-day event. The Stray Dogs Improv of Crown Point High School & Improductions, LLC present the second Northwest Indiana High School Improv Invitational on April 6th at Crown Point High School at 6 PM.

The awards ceremony pays tribute to the brilliant behind-the-scenes talent whose individual work contributes to the quality of a motion picture and to the lasting impression that it has on movie audiences. Hamilton celebrates watch appearances in more than 450 films and television shows, most recently Amazon's “Jack Ryan”. Films and creatives to be awarded this year include screenwriter Daniel Stiepleman for “On The Basis of Sex” presented by Felicity Jones, editor Barry Alexander Brown for “BlacKklansman” presented by John David Washington, producer Graham King of “Bohemian Rhapsody” presented by Rami Malek, producer designer Hannah Beachler for “Black Panther” presented by Angela Bassett and sound editors Erik Aadahl and Ethan Van der Ryn for “A Quiet Place” presented by John Krasinski. Director and playwright Stan Zimmerman has found his quartet of actors for his new comedy Knife to the Heart, co-written with Christian McLaughlin. The show will play a limited run of 3 WEEKS ONLY for 9 performances (May 4-20) at the Dorie Theatre, part of The Complex on LA's famed Theatre Row (6476 Santa Monica Blvd, LA CA 90038). Show times are Friday and Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 3pm. The cast includes Chelsea Kane ('Baby Daddy'), Todd Sherry ('Parks & Recreation'), Josh Zuckerman (A Delicate Ship) and four-time Emmy-nominee Patricia Richardson ('Home Improvement'). Tickets are $35 for Reserved Seating /$25 General Admission/$30 at the door, if available, and can be purchased at www.brownpapertickets.com.
