What do you get when you combine a lesbian couple with trust issues, a straight couple with accumulation issues, a single guy with commitment issues, and an aquarium shark with glass issues? It could only be Swimming in the Shallows by Adam Bock, a comedy with a bite. Kitchen Theatre Company is trying to stop laughing long enough to say that the production is opening for previews on April 29, with the press opening on May 2 and performances through May 17. Based on stories by Nobel Prize Winner Alice Munro, the world premiere of Stories by Alice Munro: "The Office" and "Dolly" opened a six-week run in San Francisco to critical acclaim and sold out houses on March 7, 2015. Coming to Toronto in mid-April for it's only Canadian stop, "Stories by Alice Munro" will show just five performances over four days before heading off for a month long tour in France. Munro has never before given the rights to her short stories for a full-scale professional theatrical production of this nature in Canada before this. (more...)

The Lortel Awards will be handed out on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at NYU Skirball Center beginning at 7:00 PM EST, and hosted by Emmy-nominated actors Anna Chlumsky (“Veep,” Broadway's Living on Love) and Jesse Tyler Ferguson (“Modern Family,” this summer's The Tempest).
