The University of Washington's Meany Center for the Performing Arts today announces its 2022–23 Season, presenting 20 visionary artists and ensembles who are pushing artistic boundaries, blending genres and bringing more diverse creative representation to the stage. With the world opening back up to travel, this season also marks the resumption of international touring artists to each series of the season.

La importante labor de Mario Lavista (Ciudad de México, 3 de abril, 1943 - 4 de noviembre, 2021) como compositor, profesor y divulgador de la música será reconocida en el homenaje que la mezzosoprano Encarnación Vázquez y el pianista Alberto Cruzprieto le rendirán en el aniversario de su nacimiento, el domingo 3 de abril a las 18:00 horas en la Sala Manuel M. Ponce del Palacio de Bellas Artes, como parte del ciclo Los colores de la voz del Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura (Inbal) y en el marco de la estrategia #VolverAVerte de la Secretaría de Cultura federal.

The Music Institute of Chicago has partnered with Strings of Latin America and the Reverón Piano Trio to produce Celebración de la Música Latinoamericana, a three-concert guest artist series featuring music by Latin-American composers in April and May at Nichols Concert Hall, 1490 Chicago Avenue, Evanston. Modernism in Mexico explores string quartets by some of Mexico's most important 20th century composers: Manuel Ponce, Silvestre Revueltas, and Carlos Chávez. Ponce was Mexico's leading classical musician, and this performance of his well-known song Estrellita is a new arrangement for string quartet. Carlos Chávez was his student and heir apparent, touring extensively as a conductor and producing an impressive body of compositions.

The concert features the world premieres of two new works commissioned by ACO that explore the complicated relationship between humankind and the natural world a?" Mark Adamo's Last Year: Concerto for Cello and String Orchestra and Nina C. Young's Out of whose womb came the ice. Ballet Folklórico de Los Ángeles takes center stage at The Soraya, with Eugenia León, La Diva de México, who brings her elegant, powerful vocals. She will be backed by LA's own Mariachi Garibaldi. Nochebuena continues The Soraya's tradition of celebrating the holidays, Mexican-style with two performances on Saturday, December 14 at 3:00pm and 8:00pm.
