Joffrey Ballet Presents Four World Premieres In Winning Works

The Joffrey Academy of Dance, Official School of The Joffrey Ballet presents four world premieres in the eighth annual Winning Works program, the culmination of Joffrey's national call for ALAANA (African, Latino(a), Asian, Arab and Native American) artists to submit applications for the Joffrey Academy's Eighth Annual Winning Works Choreographic Competition. This year's Competition winners-Telmo Moreira, Omar Roman De Jesus, Claudia Schreier and Luis Vazquez-each have choreographed an original work created on the Joffrey Academy Trainees and Studio Company. Winning Works returns to the MCA's Edlis Neeson Theater (220 E. Chicago Avenue) for three performances, Saturday, March 3 at 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM and Sunday, March 4 at 2:00 PM. New Cast Announced For The West End Smash Hit THE COMEDY ABOUT A BANK ROBBERY

Ahead of its second birthday in the West End this spring, the critically acclaimed and Olivier Award-nominated The Comedy About A Bank Robbery announces a new company. After a year of good behaviour at the Criterion the second company have been released on parole, with a new band of inmates starting performances from 27 February. Joining the cast are Samson Ajewole (Cooper), Jenna Augen (Ruth Monaghan), Jack Baldwin (Officer Shuck), Leonard Cook (Robin Freeboys), Matt Douglas-Hunt (Mitch Ruscitti) and Peter McGovern (Warren Slax). Continuing their roles as the bars-crossed lovers are Samuel Fogell (Sam Monaghan) and Holly Sumpton (Caprice Freeboys), and literally completing the cast is Chris Leask (Everyone Else).

Boston Ballet Presents PARTS IN SUITE

Boston Ballet's spring season opens with Parts In Suite, a program of works by three of today's most prolific choreographers: William Forsythe, Justin Peck, and Jorma Elo. The program opens with Elo's Bach Cello Suites with live musical accompaniment by cellist Sergey Antonov. In Creases marks the Company's debut in a work by New York City Ballet Resident Choreographer Justin Peck. Embarking on the second year of a five-year partnership with Forsythe, Boston Ballet presents the Company premiere of his Pas/Parts 2016. Parts In Suite runs March 9-April 7, at the Boston Opera House.
Chun Wai Chan Promoted to Principal Dancer at Houston Ballet

Houston Ballet has announced that Artistic Director Stanton Welch AM has promoted Chun Wai Chan to Principal dancer. Formally a First Soloist, Chan was promoted on the evening of December 23, 2017 after starring in Stanton Welch's The Nutcracker as the Nutcracker Prince. This well-deserved promotion concluded Houston Ballet's performances at the Smart Financial Centre during the company's Hometown Tour.

Boston Ballet proudly presents two BB@home programs in February at Boston Ballet's South End headquarters (19 Clarendon Street) in an intimate, black box theater setting. On February 15 and 16 at 7:30 pm, audiences will get an exclusive preview of the Parts In Suite program which will be performed March 9 April 7 at the Boston Opera House. Prior to that, Boston Ballet II (BBII), the second company of Boston Ballet, will present an array of works on February 1 and 2 at 7:30 pm.

This marks the sixth European premiere we have staged here at the Bridge House Theatre in Penge. What really distinguishes this show from the others is that we're only the second company to perform it in the world, so it's particularly exciting to be producing seasonal work that's so new.
