    Broadway veterans Sean McDermott and Sarah Litzsinger will join a cast of seasoned performers in The New York Musical Theatre Festival's (NYMF) The Music Box, An Evening of Lady Composers on July 23.     DISASTER!, the 1970s disaster movie musical comedy, will play its final performance Off-Broadway tonight, April 11th, after a smash six-month run at the St. Luke's Theatre (308 W. 46th Street). Disaster! began previews on October 14th, 2013 and opened to critical acclaim on November 4th, 2013. The musical, which performs in repertory with other productions at the St. Luke's Theatre, will have played 11 previews and 86 performances at the time of its closing. (more...)

Rubicon's November/ December HOLIDAY CENTRAL calendar offers a sparkling array of more than 35 shows and events for all ages. The festivities begin with the return of a holiday revue with six Broadway singers and a local children's chorus; followed by a late-night adult comedy presented in a cabaret setting; a poetic reading of wartime love letters; and culminating with an enchanting new musical from the Tony and Olivier Award-winning director of Les Miserables and Nicholas Nickleby and the creators of Jane Eyre and Daddy Long Legs, who will have a five-week residency at Rubicon during the holidays. (UMC), in a collaboration with the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, will record three songs from the little-known 1947 musical comedy Barefoot Boy With Cheek featuring performances by Jenn Colella (Chaplin, Closer Than Ever), Max von Essen(Evita, Death Takes a Holiday) and Robert Lenzi (South Pacific, Hello Again). UMC's recordings will be released for free digital download on the New York Public Library's website as part of its Musical of the Month blog series, which recently featured UMC's reconstruction of the Barefoot Boy libretto.
