Brown/Trinity Rep MFA Programs to Stage THE TOOTH OF CRIME, STONE COLD DEAD SERIOUS in Rep, 5/1-18

The Brown University/Trinity Rep MFA Programs present two raw and devastatingly humanistic plays running in repertory this May. Sam Shepard's poetic and psychedelic rock and roll drama The Tooth of Crime, opens May 1st and is directed by Dan Rogers (Brown/Trinity Rep MFA Programs '15). Alternating with this Shepard play starting May 2nd is Adam Rapp's surreal and dark new-age comedy, Stone Cold Dead Serious, directed by Flordelino Lagundino (Brown/Trinity Rep MFA Programs '15). Performances of both plays run May 1 through May 18 in the Pell Chafee Performance Center, 87 Empire Street, Providence. General admission is $10, with a $5 discounted ticket for students and seniors. Tickets are on sale now at the Trinity Rep box office, by phone (401) 351-4242, and online at www.trinityrep.com. Trinity Repertory Company invites the public to remember and celebrate the life of the lateMarion Simon, former executive assistant to Trinity Rep artistic director, Adrian Hall (and later Richard Jenkins), who passed away in December at the age of 90. The memorial celebration -featuring speakers and stories about Trinity Rep's longtime friend - will take place on Friday, May 7, at 2PM in Trinity Repertory Company's Dowling Theater, 201 Washington St. in Providence. Richard and Sharon Jenkins to Receive Trinity Rep's 2014 Pell Award for Lifetime Achievement; Ceremony Set for 6/9

Trinity Rep announced today that former artistic director and Academy-award nominated film, stage and TV actor Richard Jenkins and his wife Director/Choreographer Sharon Jenkins will be honored with the 2014 Pell Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Arts. The theater also announced that nationally known dance educator and choreographer Mary Paula Hunter will receive the 2014 Charles Sullivan Award for Distinguished Service in the Arts. The 18th annual Pell Awards will be held on Monday, June 9, 2014 at Trinity Rep with a reception to follow next door at the Providence Public Library. (more...)

Trinity Rep and WBRU announce their next Under35@TRC WBRU Night, Under35@Veronica Meadows, Thursday, April 17. Sponsored by WBRU, Under35@TRC is Trinity Rep's membership program for theater goers between 21 and 35. Membership is free and includes $25 tickets to any Trinity Rep performance and invitations to special events. Under35@Veronica Meadows includes a pre-show reception and viewing of the Dowling Theater's art gallery Cover to Cover: The Veronica Meadows Series Imagined, featuring the work of RISD illustration students. The event also provides an exclusive opportunity to meet the artists displayed in the exhibit. Magic Theatre, the Bay Area's preeminent home for new plays and playwrights, proudly announces its 2014-2015 season, anchored by part one of This Golden State, a world premiere trilogy by Luis Alfaro, co-commissioned by Magic Theatre and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. In addition, the season will kick off with Bad Jews, a hilarious comedy that will introduce up and coming playwright Joshua Harmon to Bay Area audiences. Next, Magic welcomes MacArthur Genius Award winner Naomi Wallace for the West Coast premiere of her powerful And I and Silence.
