The Paley Center for Media will present A Salute to Black Achievements in Television Presented by Citi from February 1-March 1. This monthlong celebration will include an interactive exhibit focusing on comedy, spotlight BET Network's 40th anniversary, as well as family activities, education classes, and screenings featuring some of the most influential names in entertainment. Entry to the exhibit and screenings are free and open to the public.

From Friday, February 7 through Thursday, February 20, BAM presents an exclusive New York run of a new 4K restoration of Horace Jenkins' romantic drama of race, family, history, and colorism, Cane River (1982). Stars Richard Romain and Tommye Myrick and Jenkins' son, filmmaker/journalist Sacha Jenkins, will appear in person for post-film Q&As Friday, February 7 at 7pm, Saturday, February 8 at 4:30pm and 7pm, and Sunday, February 9 at 2pm.

Twenty five years ago this month,, Shirley MacLaine and Richard Pryor shared a stage when they were inducted into the Comedy Hall Of Fame. Now, a quarter of a century later, Shirley MacLaine's daughter, Sachi Parker, and Richard Pryor Jr. will be sharing the stage at the Theater For The New City in NYC. Parker and Pryor Jr. will be playing Betty and Barney Hill, an inter-racial couple who were abducted by aliens from another planet and brought on board a UFO where they were examined.

Paramount Network has joined forces with Network Entertainment to celebrate the life of legendary Hollywood figure Patrick Swayze for the latest installment of the I Am documentary franchise. I Am Patrick Swayze will world premiere in the actor's home state at the San Antonio Film Festival on Friday, August 2, and will debut on Swayze's birthday, Sunday, August 18 at 9:00 p.m. ETPT on Paramount Network. Patrick Swayze classics Ghost and Dirty Dancing will air leading into the documentary at 3:30 p.m. ETPT and 6:30 p.m. ETPT.

Kennedy Center Announces 2019 Mark Twain Prize Recipient: Dave Chappelle

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts will present the 22nd annual Mark Twain Prize for American Humor to Dave Chappelle on Sunday, October 27, 2019 in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall. The Prize, which is named to honor one of the world's greatest humorists, will be given at a gala performance featuring some of the biggest names in comedy. The program will be broadcast on PBS stations on January 6, 2020. On-sale and ticketing information for this event will be available at a later date, and sponsorship packages for the Mark Twain Prize gala performance are on sale now.
