Musical Adaptation of Chelsea Clinton's SHE PERSISTED Sets Off-Broadway Premiere

Atlantic for Kids (Atlantic Theater Company Artistic Director, Neil Pepe; Atlantic Theater Company Managing Director, Jeffory Lawson; Atlantic Acting School Executive Director, Mary McCann; Atlantic for Kids Artistic Director, Alison Beatty) will present She Persisted, The Musical, a New York premiere musical with script and lyrics by Adam Tobin, music by Deborah Wicks La Puma, adapted from the book written by Chelsea Clinton and illustrated by Alexandra Boiger, published by Philomel Books. Directed and choreographed by MK Lawson, performances will begin on Saturday, February 22nd at Atlantic Theater Company's Linda Gross Theater (336 West 20th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues).

The cast and creative team have been announced for the Off-Broadway premiere of Romeo & Bernadette: A Musical Tale of Verona and Brooklyn, with book and lyrics by Mark Saltzman, music adapted from classic Italian melodies, and directed and choreographed by Justin Ross Cohen. Previews begin at the Mezzanine Theatre at A.R.T./New York Theatres 502 West 53rd Street (10th Avenue & 53rd Street) on Tuesday, January 14th at 7pm with an official opening on Thursday, January 23rd at 8pm. Performances will continue through February 16, 2020.

The Chicago League of Lady Arm Wrestlers (CLLAW) returns  this fall with its 34th match CLLAW XXXIV: Good vs. Evil on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Logan Square Auditorium, 2539 N. Kedzie Ave. in Chicago. CLLAW's benefit match will feature Chicago's biggest, baddest lady arm wrestlers, live musical entertainment from indie rock band Roxy Swain and a cash bar. Doors open at 9 pm with the first match beginning at 9:30 pm. Tickets, priced at $25, are available in advance at www.cllaw.org or at the door (the ladies will gladly take cash or credit at the door). The event is 21+.

Featuring humorous, poignant, and riveting insights, the solo show written by Copeland and directed by David Ford, It will take place at the Douglas Morrisson Theatre in Hayward, CA on Saturday, October 5, 2019 (8:00pm).

Producer Eric Krebs announced today that I Spy a Spy: A Declassified Musical, the new musical-comedy by SoHee Youn and Jamie Jackson will end its engagement at The Theatre at St. Clement's (423 West 46th Street-between 9th and 10th Avenues) following the evening performance on Saturday, August 10th, 2019. I Spy a Spy began performances July 6th, 2019 with the official opening on July 18th. It will have played 10 preview and 26 regular performances.

Actress/singer par excellence Lisa Donahey presented her Big 50th Birthday Bash at Feinstein's Upstairs at Vitello's Friday July 19 and did an encore performance Sunday July 21. I attended Friday and had a great time. Donahey has an infectious personality. Her charisma is enormous, as she talks directly to her audience, including them in the repartee - with a bevy of surprises - and has a joyous time doing it. Backed by six extraordinary musicians* with virtuoso musical director David Arana at the keyboard, the show came in at almost two hours, but was so enjoyable, the time flew by, literally. Donahey had two glorious backup singers Lyndsay Dodoras and Billye Johnstone
