The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts announced today that tickets are on sale for Broadway & Beyond at the Walt Disney Theater, a one-night-only variety show featuring luminaries from the Great White Way and beyond, including international music and dance performers. Broadway & Beyond will open the Walt Disney Theater during the Grand Premiere of Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, Presented by Dr. Phillips Charities and Balfour Beatty Construction.

The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts is seeking an Orlando-based singer between the ages of 9-14 to perform in Broadway & Beyond at the Walt Disney Theater on November 15. The selected singer will make her debut in a solo number with an all-star, professional Broadway cast for the Grand Premiere of Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, Presented by Dr. Phillips Charities and Balfour Beatty Construction. The show is under the direction of renowned Broadway producer Richard Jay-Alexander and musical director Mary-Mitchell Campbell. Jay-Alexander will host the auditions with leaders from the Dr. Phillips Center.

George and Ira Gershwin's masterpiece opera Porgy and Bess, based on the play by Dubose and Dorothy Heyward, premieres on PBS this fall with the critically acclaimed production from San Francisco Opera. The New York Philharmonic has announced several additions to the cast of the semi-staged production of Kern & Hammerstein's Show Boat, November 5-8, 2014: Tony-nominated actor Christopher Fitzgerald (who will portray Frank); Tony-nominated actor Norm Lewis, who appeared on Broadway as Porgy in The Gershwins' Porgy & Bess (Joe); Broadway performer Alli Mauzey (Ellie); Broadway and television performer Edward Watts (Steve); Emmy- nominated comedic stage and screen actor Fred Willard (Cap'n Andy); and Broadway performer NaTasha Yvette Williams (Queenie).

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust announced today that Brian d'Arcy James will not perform on November 10, 2014 as part of the stellar line-up of the 2014-15 Trust Cabaret Series.

The Muny, America's premier summer musical theatre, and Webster University's Leigh Gerdine College of Fine Arts Conservatory of Theatre Arts, a national leader in training for Musical Theatre, have joined forces to launch a summer intensive for emerging young artists. This three-week program invites 10 rising junior and senior high school students from across the nation to participate in an immersive theatrical experience.
