Beatles vs. Stones Tribute Show to Play Grove Theatre, 8/2
by BWW News Desk - Jul 16, 2014

The debate between the Beatles and the Rolling Stones has been going on ever since they first crossed paths on the charts 50 years ago. The argument at the time, and one that still persists, was that the Beatles were a pop group and the Stones were a rock band: the boys next door vs. the bad boys of rock. So who's better? These two legendary bands will engage in an on-stage, throw down - a musical 'shoot out' if you will - on Saturday, August 2 at 8 pm at the Grove Theatre in Upland courtesy of tribute bands Abbey Road and Jumping Jack Flash. BWW Reviews: Actor's Express' ROCKY HORROR SHOW is a Titillating Evening of Talent and Depravity
by Matt Tamanini - Jul 15, 2014

I am quite aware that this will sound sacrilegious to many who read this review, but until I saw Actor's Express' titillating production of THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, I had never seen the musical before. I have a vague recollection of watching the film version on VH1's 'Movies That Rock' at some point in the mid-90's, but other than seeing Susan Sarandon in her underwear, it didn't do much to interest me. So, as I made my way to the King Plow Arts Center, I expected to be impressed by the tremendous young talents in the cast, but what I didn't expect was to be transported to another world of naughty, musical theatre ecstasy. Muscle Shoals Live & Lisa Fischer to Return to Park City, 8/3
by BWW News Desk - Jul 11, 2014

Casting a well-deserved spotlight on artists who typically do not take center stage (but clearly should do so more often), Muscle Shoals Live: The River That Sings returns to Park City for an encore performance August 3. Inspired by two remarkable 2013 Sundance films, "Muscle Shoals Live" and "Twenty Feet From Stardom," Park City Institute's Teri Orr teamed up with Muscle Shoals' Jesse Boyce to curate a concert featuring an outstanding collection of under-sung musicians hailing from a hotbed of talent and stardom known as the "Singing River;" Grammy winner Lisa Fischer (think jaw-dropping "Gimme Shelter" duet with Mick Jagger) tops the billing. This signature St. Regis Big Stars, Bright Nights concert starts at 7 p.m.; gates open at 5:30 p.m. at Deer Valley Resort's Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater. Lawn and reserved seating tickets are available. (more...)
