Hourly Schedule Announced for BANG ON A CAN Marathon

Bang on a Can announced the hourly schedule for its ALL LIVE Bang on a Can Marathon on Sunday, June 14, 2020 from 3pm-9pm ET. The 6-hour live Marathon will be hosted by Bang on a Can Co-Founders and Artistic Directors Michael Gordon, David Lang, and Julia Wolfe.

Chicago-based new-music sextet Eighth Blackbird, winners of four Grammy Awards for their previous Cedille Records albums, are heard in the world-premiere recording of Singing in the Dead of Night, a collaborative, all-instrumental program created for the ensemble by American composers David Lang, Michael Gordon, and Julia Wolfe, founders and leaders of New York's Bang on a Can collective.

The show had its commercial premiere at that Festival, where it earned an Encore Producers Award and was a Pick of the Fringe selection.

The Annenberg Center will present Grammya"?-winning new-music choir The Crossing in the premiere of a newly staged theatrical production, Knee Plays, on Friday, February 21, 2020 at 8pm and Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 8pm at the Harold Prince Theatre. The program, part of the Center's #GLASSFEST celebration, features a rare opportunity to hear Knee Plays from Philip Glass's Einstein on the Beach and David Byrne's New Orleans-inspired contribution to Robert Wilson's large scale project, the CIVIL warS. The premiere will be narrated by popular Philadelphia actor Dito van Reigersberg.

Beth Morrison Projects (BMP) and Trinity Church Wall Street (Trinity), together with PROTOTYPE: Opera|Theatre|Now, are pleased to announce a multiyear partnership in which BMP and Trinity will commission and produce five cutting-edge new opera-theater works for premiere at the PROTOTYPE Festival over three seasons (2021a?"2023). On Saturday, January 25 at 9:00 p.m., pioneering ensemble Kronos Quartet returns to Zankel Hall for a program that reveals the group's remarkable gift for expanding the range and context of the string quartet. The evening includes the world premiere of Bryce Dessner's Le Bois, a work based on Pérotin's Sederunt principes and was inspired by the Notre Dame Cathedral and the 1,000-year-old wood ceiling that was lost in the fire there in the Spring of 2019.

Launched in 2017, the Youth Music Culture Guangdong (YMCG), which is known as 'turning a new page for Chinese classical music,' will be held for the fourth time in Guangzhou beginning on January 10, 2020. This morning, the 2020 YMCG Organizing Committee held a press conference in the lobby of the Xinghai Concert Hall to begin the 30-day countdown to the event.
