The Chan Centre for the Performing Arts at the University of British Columbia (UBC) presents Inuit throat singer Tanya Tagaq and Greenlandic mask dancer Laakkuluk Williamson Bathory in an electrifying combination of sound and movement, March 16 - 18 at 7:30pm in the Telus Studio Theatre as part of the Beyond Words series. Lauded for their expressive and emotionally-charged performances, together these powerhouse artists will cast a contemporary light on their shared Inuit roots while celebrating the strength, resilience, and courage of Indigenous women.

Responding to a clarion call from fans to return after last year's Fabulous Finale, the rejuvenated Cornbury Festival is back for 2018 with a fantastic UK festival exclusive. Alanis Morissette will headline the festival's Saturday line up on July 14th. The Queen of Alt-Rock and author of the iconic 'Jagged Little Pill' album which has sold over 33 million copies since its release in 1995 will be the headline artist for the festival in Great Tew Park. Now in its celebratory 15th year and back for the year that wasn't meant to happen. 'I'm still in shock from the massive outpouring of love and support for Cornbury' says promoter Hugh Phillimore. 'We're back thanks to the incredible loyalty of our fans'.

MojaMoja celebrated its 10th Anniversary of music discovery on February 10th at the Avalon Hollywood. The brunch benefit concert was attended by more than 250 cultural and musical tastemakers who came together to celebrate the stellar achievements of Hip Hop icons will.i.am, The Beat Junkies, a legendary West Cost DJ crew, and Prince's band The Revolution. The concert featured performances from breakout artists Jungle Fire with their highly explosive psychedelic afro/latin funk sound; The Steoples, a genre-fusion alternative R&B duo; Wajatta, the collaborative between comedian-musician Reggie Watts and electronic musician, DJ and producer John Tejada; along with the drumming prodigy Elise Trouw, a gifted modern indie pop multi-instrumentalist who has a viral-mashup of 'Everlong' by Foo Fighters and 'What You Won't Do for Love' by Bobby Caldwell with more than 7 million views on Facebook. All artists donated their performances to benefit the MojaMoja Innovation Fund and House of Blues Music Forward Foundation.

Arena Stage Artistic Director Molly Smith and Executive Director Edgar Dobie are pleased to announce that Broadway legend Maurice Hines will serve as the Master of Ceremonies and international touring artist and global humanitarian Mary McBride will headline the 2018 Arena Stage Gala honoring Mayor Muriel Bowser on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at the Mead Center for American Theater (1101 Sixth St., SW). As previously announced, the Gala features the presentation of the third annual Beth Newburger Schwartz Award to D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, and will recognize Jessica Stafford Davis as an Emerging Leader. The Gala is helmed by event chairs and Arena Stage Trustees Lavern Chatman and Maggie FitzPatrick.

The Chan Centre for the Performing Arts at the University of British Columbia (UBC) presents The Jazz Epistles: Abdullah Ibrahim with guest Terence Blanchard in a rare tribute concert, February 18 at 7pm in the Chan Shun Concert Hall. Half a century after the release of their landmark album, Jazz Epistle Verse 1, iconic keyboardist and Jazz Epistle alumnus Abdullah Ibrahim revisits the legendary repertoire of his historic South African ensemble. Four-time GRAMMY-winning New Orleans trumpeter Terence Blanchard joins Ibrahim and band Ekaya as guest performer of these jazz masterworks produced during the apartheid struggle.

Overture's Frostiball 2018 fundraising gala on Sat., Jan. 27 benefits the state's largest nonprofit arts organization, Overture Center for the Arts, which features seven state-of-the-art performance spaces and five galleries, is home to ten resident organizations and offers more than 20 programs, many free and low-cost, which engaged individuals in 660,000 artistic and educational experiences last year. The New School Announces Special GRAMMY-Week Event

Four generations of musicians will come together for a one night only, special event during GRAMMY Week 2018. On Tuesday, January 23, at The New School's John L.
