Today, the Jewish Museum launched a completely new website designed by Sagmeister & Walsh, the New York City design firm led by Stefan Sagmeister and Jessica Walsh, which also designed the Museum's new graphic identity. Available at www.thejewishmuseum.org, the website features a responsive design that gives users access to all site content across any device or screen size. While construction continues and St. Ann's works to raise the final $2 million of its $30 million capital campaign, the organization will present a stellar final season in its temporary home at 29 Jay Street in DUMBO. It kicks off this October when TR Warszawa and director Grzegorz Jarzyna return for the American Premiere of their internationally acclaimed production of Sarah Kane's 4:48 Psychosis, which St. Ann's Founder / Artistic Director Susan Feldman has wanted to bring to New York since she first saw it in February 2004 -- the same year St. Ann's presented the American Premiere of the original Royal Court production of Kane's play. St. Ann's Warehouse also announced the following season highlights today: Emma Rice and Kneehigh, The Wooster Group, the Slovenian choral group Carmina Slovenica, and The Tiger Lillies. (more...)

Michael Cohl Reveals SPIDER-MAN Arena Tour in the Works for 2015-16

In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark producer Michael Cohl revealed that the show will n fact not be opening in Las Vegas. Instead an arena tour is in the works for 'late 2015 or winter 2016.' He told WSJ: "I think Spider-man is a pop culture rock show that was meant to be in arenas." When asked about the recently cancelled Jesus Christ Superstar arena tour, another project with which he was affiliated, Cohl commented: "It was a disaster. Ticket sales were terrible." (more...)

St. Ann's Warehouse Presents 16th Annual LABAPALOOZA! Festival of New Puppet Theater This Weekend

The Puppet Lab, which celebrates its 16th anniversary this year, is St. Ann's Warehouse'sexperimental haven for artists developing interdisciplinary projects for puppet and object theater. Under the direction of Lab Co-Directors Matthew Acheson and Krissy Smith, participating artists and their collaborators have met weekly over several months to develop projects, share puppetry elements and other design and technical ideas, discuss plot structure and character development, and work on narrative. They will present their works-in-progress in the annual Labapalooza! festival, which will run today, May 29 - June 1 at St. Ann's Warehouse (29 Jay Street, Brooklyn). (more...)

In the history of the Holocaust, the fate of Hungarian Jews stands out due to the exceptional speed with which their deportation was carried out by the Hungarian authorities cooperating with the Eichmann bureau very late in the war, in summer 1944. Almost half a million people were deported in less than three months, and over half a million were murdered in the course of World War II in forced labour units, in labor and death camps and in various pogroms conducted by Arrowcross men.
