Moonbox Productions, winner of numerous IRNE and Elliot Norton Awards, will present Legally Blonde: The Musical, with music and lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin and a book by Heather Hach, based on the novel Legally Blonde by Amanda Brown. 

'A Chorus Line' with music by Marvin Hamlisch, lyrics by Edward Kleban, and book by James Kirkwood Jr. and Nicholas Dante will be performed at The Weston Friendly Society of the Performing Arts this May. Coming off of a successful run of their production of 'The Sound of Music' back in December, WFS will close out their 137th Season with this 9 time Tony Award Winning classic.

The second and final production of Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston’s 2022 season is Stephen Schwartz’s PIPPIN, originally produced on the Broadway stage in 1972 with direction and choreography by Bob Fosse, and revived/reimagined in 2013 by Diane Paulus at the American Repertory Theater before going to Broadway. Undaunted by following in those two very large sets of footsteps, RMT Artistic Director Rachel Bertone forges her own path to stage a version that leads with an enlarged heart and a healthy helping of fun and whimsy.

Running from August 5-13, 2022 at the Robinson Theatre, 617 Lexington St. Waltham, MA, 02452, Pippin tells the tale of a young prince struggling to decide whether to pursue a peaceful life or to “make magic” with the dazzling troupe of performers that help tell his story.

After a two-year hiatus, Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston returns for its 53rd summer season on the main stage at the Robinson Theatre (617 Lexington St. Waltham, MA, 02452). Under the direction of new Artistic Director Rachel Bertone, the curtain will rise on two iconic American musicals: West Side Story, the powerful tale of young lovers caught between prejudice and warring street gangs (July 8-16, 2022) and Pippin, Stephen Schwartz's unforgettable musical masterpiece of a young prince searching for passion, adventure, and the true meaning of life. Mary Callanan returns from Broadway and national tours to play her sidekick Vera, and ten-year-old triple threat Cameron Levesque plays her precocious nephew Patrick. One of Jerry Herman's great works, MAME is a joyous celebration of living life with brio and without apologies.

There are certainly no perfect formulas for creating the perfect musical. Lately, it seems that many new shows are following one of two "tried and true" formulas for success, both of which can actually lead to pretty epic failure. One is trying to turn something like a movie, television show, cartoon or comic book into a musical. The second is trying to create a musical that has something for everyone, a show that tries to please every audience member with a little bit of everything. The Addams Family, which kicks off the new season at Ocean State Theatre Company, is an example of how both of those formulas sometimes fall very, very flat.

Moonbox Productions, nominated for numerous IRNE and Elliot Norton Awards, kicks-off its sixth season with its second annual, one-night only, company cabaret entitled - Decadence, Debauchery and Divas!  The cabaret takes place at Club Oberon, 2 Arrow Street in Cambridge, on October 19th from 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm.  Tickets are $25 and all proceeds and donations benefit Moonbox Productions' mission to produce top quality local theater and to help area non-profits increase the reach and impact of their work.
