The GhostLight Arts Initiative has announced the Inaugural Detroit IMPACT Arts Conference. Beginning on Monday, June 24th, the 3-day conference will include a series of workshops, panels, and conversations designed to engage the Detroit arts community.

The Obsidian Theatre Festival, having just announced the line-up for their 4th Annual Season this summer, has announced the additional release of streaming content from the first three seasons.

Mellon Foundation has awarded five hundred thousand dollars to Blackboard Plays Founder, Garlia Cornelia Jones, and Obsidian Theater Festival Producing Artistic Director John Sloan III in support of the Propulsion Theatre Project (PTP), a partnership project dedicated to creating work that amplifies the ecosystem of theater in Detroit.

FIM Flint Repertory Theatre presents its 2023 New Works Festival April 28-30. The three-day event features staged readings of new plays. Audience members get to experience these works before anyone else and meet the artists working to bring the future of American theatre to life.

Hayes, Jr. Prize, the highlight of a new initiative the museum launched earlier this year to provide important institutional support to American artists.

Detroit Repertory Theatre will be starting the new year with the Michigan Professional Premiere of Gem of the Ocean, written by one of the most prolific writers of the 20th century, August Wilson. August Wilson's Gem of the Ocean opens January 13, 2023, at 8:30 pm with a champagne reception and closes March 5, 2023.

The first in-person event since 2019, the annual conference will feature an extraordinary schedule and honor Detroit luminaries Dominique Morisseau, Ron Simons, Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Chanté Adams, and Angela Birchett, who have found success on Broadway and beyond.
