In less than three weeks, Janet Cardiff and George Bures Miller will fill Park Avenue Armory's vast drill hall with their most ambitious sound installation to date. An otherworldly soundscape created using nearly 100 speakers, THE MURDER OF CROWS will immerse visitors in a vivid narrative realized through the artists' evocative and poetic use of sound-from crashing waves to a marching band to the hubbub of a factory floor. Woven together, these sounds create a haunting melodrama, exploring concepts of love, loss, and vulnerability.

Park Avenue Armory presents Trisha Brown Dance Company's reconstruction of ASTRAL CONVERTED, a groundbreaking work by choreographer Trisha Brown in collaboration with Robert Rauschenberg (visual and costume design) and John Cage (original music) tonight, July 10th through July 14th, 2012. The piece is presented in its entirety for the first time in 18 years in Park Avenue Armory's soaring 55,000-square-foot Wade Thompson Drill Hall. The culminating work in Brown's Valiant Series, ASTRAL CONVERTED premiered at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. in 1991.

Roulette presents a carnival of all things experimental; the Roulette MUSICIRCUS returns for a second annual celebration of chaos and the harmonies of simultaneity. A free and fun performance event bringing together an eclectic assortment of musicians, dancers, video artists, and artists from all corners of NYC's artistic community, MUSICIRCUS presents a collage of genres and form. MUSICIRCUS plays today, June 24, from 3 to 9 p.m. and is FREE.

Artists Janet Cardiff and George Bures Miller are set to animate Park Avenue Armory's cavernous drill hall this August with a dream-like soundscape that envelops audiences in a poetic and visceral sonic experience. The soundscape opens August 3 and will run through September 9.

A cooperative of NYC-based cutting-edge experimental theater companies and artists will present their work throughout July as part of the 2012 undergroundzero festival (Paul Bargetto, Artistic Director, Connie Hall, Executive Director). The festival will take place June 29-July 29 on 5 stages in the East Village and Brooklyn and outdoor sites throughout lower Manhattan. Weekly parties, panels, and new play readings will happen at festival headquarters: the legendary Living Theatre.

North/South Consonance, Inc. continues its 32nd consecutive season of free-admission concerts this evening, June 12, 2012 when acclaimed soprano Martha Herr, bass Israel Pessoa, and pianist Max Lifchitz join forces for an evening featuring exclusively art songs by Brazilian composers in 'O Coração Canta.'

In conjunction with the centennial of John Cage's birth, artistic director Petr Kotik and S.E.M. Ensemble, Inc present "BEYOND CAGE - John Cage at 100 / Music at 2012", a festival highlighting some of Cage's most significant works and his legacy in the music of our time.

For the final installment of Greenwich House Music School's 26th annual North River Music Series, pianist and GHMS faculty member Taka Kigawa will perform an evening of prized John Cage works, including selections from Cage's monumental Etudes Australes, tonight, June 7th in the school's Renee Weiler Concert Hall. This occasion will also mark Mr. Kigawa's first solo concert at Greenwich House Music School.

New York Musical Theatre Festival: July 9-29 at various midtown venues (http://www.nymf.org) Rumors of the death of musical theatre have been quickly squashed once a year ever since the New York Musical Theatre Festival, a/k/a NYMF, first hit town in 2004. Over 300 musicals later, 70 of which have gone on to major New York and/or regional productions, NYMF has become an annual celebration for those who appreciate interesting scores and adventurous writing over extravagant production values. Tickets are inexpensive and each venue hosts several different shows daily, so it's easy to spend the day discovering the wide variety of musicals in the works.

Composer Robert Sirota's solo work Canzona will be performed by guitarist Jordan Dodson during three upcoming concerts in New York - tonight, May 27 at 7:30pm at Culturefix (9 Clinton Street, NYC), Friday, June 8 at 8pm at Chambers Fine Art (522 West 19th Street, NYC), and Sunday, June 24 at 3pm at St. John's Church as part of Concerts on the Slope (139 Saint Johns Place, Brooklyn).

Miller Theatre at Columbia University School of the Arts has announced its 2012-13, 24th Season. Including LE POÈME HARMONIQUE IN "VENEZIA," on opening night, eight intriguing composer portraits, featuring John Cage, Jonathan Harvey, Olga Neuwirth, Sofia Gubaidulina, Enno Poppe, Rebeecca Saunders, Oliver Knussen and Julio Estrada. Bach, Revisted, highlights innovators, baroque and modern alike, featuring Jennifer Koh teaming up with mentor Jaime Laredo, harpsichordist Kristian Bezuidenhout and Ensemble Signal playing Bach, Rebel and Michael Gordon, and pianist Christopher Taylor juxtaposing Bach and Rzewski.
