“Hello, Dolly!” opens Friday, July 12 and runs through Sunday, July 14 and returns for a second week from Wednesday, July 17 through Saturday, July 20.

The celebrated holiday tradition returns as the Handel and Haydn Society perform Handel's glorious Messiah at Symphony Hall November 24, 25 and 26, 2023.

The Handel and Haydn Society announces its 2023-24 season, the first under new Artistic Director Jonathan Cohen. Cohen is just the 15th to hold that position in Handel and Haydn Society's 209 years and has selected an eclectic group of works for the season's eleven concerts.

We haven't seen a lot of Smetana's The Bartered Bride in the UK recently. Bohemia's best-loved opera is rapidly becoming one of the repertoire's best-kept secrets, which is a shame because it's an enchanting comedy, whose colourful, folk-filled score might be propelled by exotic polka rhythms, but whose human drama feels deliciously close to home.

In opera, there is often nothing more dangerous than female sexuality. Salome is a story where a woman's love becomes dangerous obsession, leading to bloodshed and necrophilia. From a feminist perspective, the story is challenging to say the least, but as Richard Strauss' opera, the result should be both brutal and beautiful. In this new production from the ENO, Australian Director Adena Jacobs makes her UK debut with a supposedly feminist perspective of the story that at times entertains, but more often baffles.
